WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

Hello, ‘Fetti Fans!

Whew…I feel like it’s been so long since I’ve blogged, but it’s just been a few days.  We spent the last half of last week and the weekend getting moved in and we are **this close** to being all set up.  Of course, we are already back to shipping, but my creative area and a few other corners of the warehouse need a little “touching up.”  I can’t wait to share pics with you and I promise I will have those soon!  And, as always, THANK YOU for being a ‘Fetti Fan and helping us grow throughout the years!

. . . . .

Today on WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS Amy is going to share with you a fun and creative way to combine images and the ABC Cover Panel Confetti Cuts die.

Are you asking “what exactly is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS?”  It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  It’s us taking a closer look at how something is created, etc.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

Hi ‘Fetti Fans, Amy S. here with this week’s Wednesday in the Works. Today I’m sharing a cute and playful idea for the new ABC Cover Panel Confetti Cuts die and the darling mice from Coffee and You. I started with two ABC Cover Panel die-cuts. On the first one, I lightly blended some aqua ink and added some splattering for some subtle detail. Next I offset the two ABC Cover Panel die-cuts just a hair and adhered them together. This gives the letters a subtle drop-shadow effect.

I stamped, die-cut, and colored a whole bunch of mice, coffee mugs, and donuts and began arranging them around the letters, some mice in front, some peeking from behind, some rightside-up and some upside-down. By coloring the mice in different shades and by trimming the left-facing mouse from his stool, I was able to get the effect of more than just the two mice images in the stamp set. Before adhering the cover panels to the card base, I blended some aqua and light green onto the card front, purposefully blending the opposite areas as the ones I blended on the cover panel.

For the sentiment, I added a simple “smile” banner, stamped with Bitty Banners and die-cut with the Bitty Banners Confetti Cuts.

There you have it! Sweet, playful, and sure to put a smile on anyone’s face! Plus I just loved giving those tiny mice center stage!

Tip: When creating white-on-white backgrounds, I often use a combination of textures to add definition and help break up the white. Here, the card base is a textured white and the die-cuts are cut from a smooth white.

Thanks for joining me today!
