Hello crafty friends! I'm Lien and this week I made a clean and simple birthday card. As always, I'll explain everything I did right here in the blog post, but I also have a video linked below where you can watch the whole process as well!

For this card I started out by making my focal image. I used one of the adorable fairies from the Enchanted Garden stamp set by Reverse Confetti and stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black ink onto Canson Montval 200 gsm watercolor cardstock. I also heat embossed this with WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine embossing powder. I love the look of clear embossing line art but it also helps when watercoloring, the raised edges make sure your colors don't bleed together if you're an impatient painter like I am. I colored it in with a fine paintbrush and some watercolors then fussy cut it out.

I then die cut the Circle Element Confetti Cuts once from a white rectangle and once from silver glitter cardstock. I die cut it from the white rectangle, making sure the placement would be perfect to put the fairy in the center of that Circle Element. I added some simple inkblending to that piece with the Iced Aque ink and then I put painters tape on the back of the die cut rectangle, so I'd have a simple backing to inlay the glitter pieces. I prefer using painters tape as a backing because glueing a second piece of cardstock to the back of it usually ends up with glue oozing out of the negative die cut spaces. The painters tape is not very sticky so I do add a dot of liquid adhesive in every opening before inlaying the glitter pieces. I use a jewel picker for this to make my life easier.

I finish it up by stamping the sentiment in the bottom right corner in Versafine Onyx Black and I add the same clear embossing powder on that as well. To add dimension to this background I add 4 layers of thick white cardstock using liquid glue and adhere that onto my cardbase. I prop the fairy up on some foam tape and to add a little extra sparkle I add some Wink Of Stella to her wings.
