Happy Friday! Today I am excited to be sharing a rainbow-themed shaker card using the new Love Wins stamp and Confetti Cuts sets.
To begin this card I took the Large Circle Rainbow Confetti Cut die and an A2 sized cardstock panel in white. Using an embossing mat with my die cut machine, I ran the die through the machine four times across the background -- once in each corner, letting the design overlap. Using the embossing folder ensured the die only pressed into the paper instead of fully cutting into it. This is a technique called dry embossing.
Next, I took the frame from the Layered Mom with Frame Confetti Cut set to cut a white frame to create my shaker window.
I added a layer of foam tape to the back of the frame, and then adhered a piece of clear acetate on top of the foam tape. Honestly, here I realized that I should have put my clear acetate and then the foam tape! To fix this I just added another layer of foam tape, which gave a little extra dimension to the card.
With the frame face down, I removed the backing off the second layer of foam tape and added my shaker bits to the center of the card, directly on top of the clear acetate piece. I used a really cute shaker bits mix that I picked up at my local Scrapbook Expo earlier this year.
I made sure to evenly spread the shaker bits so that none would get stuck when I added a back to the card. Then I took the panel I created at the beginning with the dry embossing, and put it on top of the back of the shaker panel to enclose all of the shaker bits and pressed firmly to make sure the seal was firm.
For the final touches, I stamped the cat and love phrase from the Love Wins stamp set with a Copic friendly black ink, and colored them as you see above. I then used small pieces of foam tape that I cut to adhered the two pieces to the front of the card.
That is it!! Since the shaker bits, kitty, and 'love' phrase were so colorful I'm happy I left the background of the card and the frame clean and white as to keep the focus on the rainbows.
