WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on January 30, 2015

Hey, hey ‘Fetti Fans and Happy Friday (and Super Bowl weekend).

Do you have fun plans for the game?  I have to admit, we’re going to be duds and just hang out at home.  I’m more interested in the commercials than the teams playing this year.  I guess that’s just about every year though, but sometimes cheering occurs in between the commercials, too.  My (8 year old) daughter is excited to see Katy Perry perform at half-time.  I’m crossing my fingers for no wardrobe malfunctions, etc!

. . . . .

It’s Friday, so you know what that means…

LAST DAY OF THE YEAR

By admin
on December 31, 2014

Howdy ‘Fetti Fans and Happy (almost) New Year!

Many take this day to reflect on the year past.  It’s been a good one, indeed.  However, there isn’t too much time to reflect as I have a lot to prep for in the upcoming weeks.  We are so excited for our next release in which we will be release a new product…one that no one else has.  How’s that for a little teaser?

NextRelease

. . . . .

Today, we have a special year end project for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS.

First, what is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS?

It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.  Today Confetti Crew member, Amy Sheffer, has a fun little way to make confetti and use it on a card.

RC_WiW123114_aks

How about a little confetti to ring in the New Year? Did you know, the little star cut-outs from the Stars Pretty Panels Confetti Cuts die make perfect confetti? Give it a try!

RC_WiW123114_detail1_aks

For today’s festive card, I filled a tiny glassine bag with silver and gold stars. The bag is embellished with some loops of silver thread and a silver star that I cut with the Oh My Stars Confetti Cuts die. The sentiment is a combination of the word “celebrate” from Beautiful Banners and numbers from Lighthearted Letters to make the year 2015.

RC_WiW123114_detail2_aks

With metallics being super trendy right now, the traditional silver, gold, and black New Year color combo is extra fun to design with. The narrow black and gold striped washi tape from K & Co. was perfect to help frame the card’s focal point.

RC_WiW123114_detail3_aks

I stamped an exploding confetti background using an image from Winning and heat embossed it in gold for extra shine. Along the bottom, I added a subtle white-on-white Circle Garland Confetti Cuts die-cut for a little extra interest.

Happy New Year to you and yours! May all your troubles during the coming year be as short as your New Year’s resolutions! (wink!)

CONFETTI CAMERA

By admin
on December 18, 2014

Woot, Woot…time for CONFETTI CAMERA!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations. For this round, you’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration from cards completed inside and out from each of our designers. A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will follow the same “theme” until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member (then it’s a new round with new questions/theme). To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

On camera today is the sweet, stylish and creatively savvy, LISA HENKE

LisaHIntroPic

Hello, sweet Fetti’ Fans! Lisa Henke here bringing you this week’s Confetti Camera Challenge.  I pulled out the adorable Quirky Cutie: MARLEY MOOSE for my Inside & Out card today. I loved this challenge because I admit I have been horrible about doing up the inside of my cards recently. I used to do it all the time.  I forgot how fun (and cute) it is. It adds just that little something extra to your card that the recipient is SURE to love……AND it’s another great way to get more mileage out your supplies.

LH-photo1

I used the current Retro Sketch for my layout and added my favorite LET IT SNOW Confetti cuts done in vellum and topped with sequins. I hand cut a snowy hill and accented that with the CIRCLE GARLAND Confetti Cuts die.  I love this Marley Moose stamp set because it’s not just for holiday time. He can be used ALL winter long.  Here’s a closer look.

LH-photo2

With all the flakes flying, I decided to give him a hat. I stamped him and the hat on X-Press it blending cardstock and colored them up with Copics. I then cut him out and popped him up with some foam dimensionals.

LH-photo 3-INSIDE

Here is the INSIDE of my card. It’s a great way to pull in colors you used on the outside of your card. So I layered up some coordinating cardstock for the base. When using a line art image, like those from the Quirky Cuties line, I like to add a partially inked image of the same stamp done in a colored ink. I felt like there was a lot going on on the outside of my card, so the INSIDE was the perfect place for the sentiment. I also tied in another vellum Let It Snow flake. Still simple and super sweet! There is also plenty of space for a handwritten note.

The Confetti Crew have been sharing some amazing tags lately, and I just love a pretty tag on a plainly wrapped parcel at Christmas time – tres chic! WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

By admin
on November 12, 2014

Hello ‘Fetti Fans!  We have a very special WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS for you today!  Confetti Crew member, Amy Sheffer, has an awesome project to share along with some great tips!

Before we get started, let me just recap what WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS is…

It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

. . . . .

Hey, it’s Amy here!

Today I’m focusing on combining dies in fun, creative ways, as well as using felt to add warmth to your project.

 RC_WIW_11.12.14_baby it's cold outside_aks

The first thing I did was to make a felt mitten using the tag from the TAGGED TOTE Confetti Cuts die set and a medium-size paisley from PERFECTLY PAISLEY Confetti Cuts for the thumb.

RC_WIW_11.12.14_detail2_aks

Felt is a great way to add texture and warmth to your projects, and works especially well for a mitten! When you’re die-cutting felt, it helps to use a metal shim in order to get a nice, clean cut. If you don’t have a metal shim, try running your die through your machine back and forth a few extra times. Then carefully run a pair of scissors along the cuts lines to ensure a clean break when separating the die-cut from the negative. I topped my mitten with a large snowflake from the new LET IT SNOW Confetti Cuts die set and a CIRCLE GARLAND Confetti Cuts die-cut. Both were cut from a white flocked paper (my white felt wasn’t quite white enough for my liking!).

RC_WIW_11.12.14_mittendetail_aks

My simple design consists of two light gray fishtail banner strips, a stamped sentiment from SEASONAL SENTIMENTS, and a sprinkling of sequins and buttons to give the impression of falling snow.
