Howdy ‘Fetti Fans!

It’s time for this month’s creative hop where the Confetti Crew and friends bring you a ton of fabulous inspiration using a variety of Reverse Confetti products.

So, get that cuppa joe or tea, get comfy cozy and click on through this super fun blog hop!  Don’t forget to leave a comment on each stop along the way for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the Reverse Confetti store. Comments are open until February 10th at 12pm CST, and the winner will be announced on February 11th post right here on the Reverse Confetti blog.

If there are any breaks along the way, you’ll find the full list of hoppers at the bottom of this post.

. . . . .

The project that I am sharing today is a dressed up version of something a lot of you have made before…a 2-4-6-8 box.

Box1

I created the 2-4-6-8 box and then cut out a large heart (from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set) on one of the vertical score lines so that you can peek into the box filled with yummy Hershey kisses in a cello bag.

Box_heart

I embellished around the negative die cut space with another large heart cut from coordinating paper and popped up on a glue dot along with rhinestones matted with white punched circles.

For the top and bottom of the box, I die cut the rectangle from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set and then cut it in half and overlapped the two pieces to form a square. In the picture below, you can see the slight overlap line. I also wrapped with box with pattern paper cut out with the DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER Confetti Cuts.

Box1_base

I wanted to give the top of the box a little bit of pizazz!  I took a wooden ball (from Hobby Lobby) and painted it red and then added ultra fine glitter to it once it dried. I placed on top of a little piece of pink tulle and hot glued it to the top of the box. I then added the “sweet treats” sentiment and hearts (from SWEET THING and GO TOGETHER, respectively) to the banner cut from the TAG ME Confetti Cuts die set.  The banner is tied onto the glitter ball with some red, white and pink baker’s twine.

Box1_top2

One more shot of the top and banner…

I don’t want to keep you too long here because there is SO MUCH more to see!

. . . . .

Another crazy week gone by!  For those of you following our housing adventure…we have accepted an offer on our house (YAY!).  We are still on the hunt for one to move into, and we will see how that all pans out in the next few weeks.  We just backed out of one due to some (multiple) issues with the home.  I think it was God’s way of saying that it wasn’t the one for our happy family.  I look forward to being off of real estate web sites this weekend and having my nose buried in my sketch book prepping for upcoming releases!  I need the break and my mojo needs a boost!

. . . . .

It’s Friday and time for WEEK IN REVERSE, where we take a peek back on what the Confetti Crew has been up to this week.

Love is in the air!  I just love the projects that I am seeing from both the Confetti Crew and YOU!

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on February 04, 2014

Hello and Happy Tuesday, ‘Fetti Fans!

For those of you following our Dallas to Houston adventure, there are no real updates today.  Our house here is officially on the market and we are still waiting on some information on the house in Houston.  Stay tuned!  I gotta say that all this moving business is cutting into my creative time!  Don’t these people know that I love creating for Valentine’s Day?

. . . . .

It’s Tuesday and time for TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!

Today, I am playing around with our current SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY challenge.  If you would like to play along, too, just click on the sketch on the sidebar to the left for all the details and link list.

Here’s this month’s sketch…

SFYTT9_Feb14

I changed it up just a little and made it into a square card.  Feel free to make this sketch your own.  As long as the “bones” are there, it’s all good!

FebSFYTT

This card uses a variety of Reverse Confetti products…  The embossed white panel is embellished with the small scallops from the DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER Confetti Cuts.  The main image panel is the large tag from the TAG ME Confetti Cuts die set and it is stamped with a GO TOGETHER sentiment and topped with the banner, also from TAG ME and the large hearts from LOVE NOTE (back in stock later this week).  I just adore the small heart border (seen here in black and white polkas) from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts!  This tag is super sweet on this card, but would be just as cute attached to a package!

It has been a whirlwind of a week over here!  As I noted yesterday, change is upon our family…we are moving!  I’m going to take you on this journey with me.  I won’t have updates everyday, nor will I bore you with every minute detail,  but I’ll be keeping you in the loop and hope that you will share your experiences, too.  For those of you that are interested…we are moving to Houston, TX because of my hubby’s job.  Fortunately, I can do Reverse Confetti from just about anywhere, so nothing is changing (other than location) here.

So, as of today, we in contract to purchase a home in Houston.  I am a bit nervous as the inspection report came back with a few (big) red flags.  This was to be expected, as we are purchasing a home that is a little older.  Hopefully, we can come to an agreement on what needs to be done.  I’ll know more next week when we have area specialists review the inspection report and the home.  Wish us luck!

. . . . .

It’s Friday and time for WEEK IN REVERSE! The Confetti Crew has been busy this week creating cards and projects that are sure to inspire!

Val is so super clever!  I love this magnetic board to hold dies so they don’t get lost in the paper crafty craziness that I know happens on everyone’s desks!

Color Challenge Winner + Confetti Camera

By admin
on January 30, 2014

Howdy, ‘Fetti Fans!

This post is chock full of exciting news. This first bit is personal to me and my family…we are moving! EEK! For those of you that have followed me for a little while and are thinking, “Didn’t you just move?” you are right. This will be our second move within 2 years…double EEK! I’ve moved enough throughout my adult life and feel like a pro. But, even with that pro status it’s a bit stressful. The plan is to keep life and business as normal as possible. I’ll keep you posted as all the fun events of the weeks and months to come unfold.

. . . . .

Next up in the exciting news of the day…the winner of the January Color Challenge.

First, THANK YOU to everyone that played along. There were so many A-MAAAAAA-ZING entries and it was so hard to pick just one. But, alas, there could be just one winner…

Here’s Kim’s card using BE A BARISTA, which will be back in stock tonight…

Kim, please email me at info@reverseconfetti.com to claim your prize!

. . . . .

Now, it’s time for our “regularly scheduled programming” with today’s CONFETTI CAMERA!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations. For this round, you’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration from a fun tip or technique from each of our designers. A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions/show a tip until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member (then it’s a new round with new questions/theme). To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

. . . . .

Today the spotlight is on Confetti Crew member and my CHA roomie, STACEY SCHAFER

StaceyIntroPic

Here’s Stacey’s fun, fresh and on trend project using the PAPER CRANE stamp set and ARROW, DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER and LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts…

rc_cc_project_6

Hey there, ‘Fetti Fans! I’m thrilled to be on the Confetti Camera today to share a couple of technique tips! There are two techniques, in particular, that I want to show you today…stenciling with embossing paste AND loopy twine!

rc_cc_supplies_1_edited-1

Here is a photo of the supplies that I gathered for my project.

Paper Crane

Arrow

Love Note

Double Edge Scallop Border

Burlap Canvas, Stencil, Embossing Paste, Twine, Paper, Ink, Adhesive

rc_cc_paste_2_edited-1

Embossing paste can be applied to a variety of surfaces. Here I spread the paste over the stencil onto the canvas using a piece of folded card stock. For more texture, like this, apply liberally (almost a little clumpy) instead of smoothing it out.

rc_cc_paste_3_edited-1

Gently lift the stencil and allow a few minutes to dry.

rc_cc_twine_4_edited-1

I am asked a lot about my twine loops. There is no secret to the looping other than the twine that you choose. My favorite twine is Hemptique 10 lb. Hemp Cord…it’s durable and holds it shape better than baker’s twine.

Here, I have wrapped the twine around the canvas and secured with a knot, leaving long tails.

rc_cc_twine_5_edited-1

Next, I wrap an extra piece of twine around my fingers and tie it into place with the already wrapped twine…for a “lasso” looking effect.

rc_cc_project_closeup7

Here’s a closeup photo of my finished canvas that’s been Reverse Confetti-fyed!

Thanks so much for stopping by Reverse Confetti today! I hope you’re inspired to try some new techniques!

Hello and Happy Friday, ‘Fetti Fans!

Wow…Friday already!  This week has flown by! Anyone else ready for the weekend? We are having my lil’ man’s birthday party this weekend.  It’s a Batman theme and most of the RSVPs have been girls.  Looks like I’m going to be figuring out a way to incorporate some pink here and there for this party…good thing that comes naturally to me!

. . . . .

It’s Friday and it’s time for WEEK IN REVERSE…where we take a look back at what the Confetti Crew has been up to this week.

Val’s own (not so) lil’ (anymore) man had a birthday this week and this is the fabulous card that she created for him.

Today the spotlight is on Confetti Crew member, AMY SHEFFER

AmySIntroPic

Here’s Amy’s Confetti Camera project using the new set, CRUSHIN’ and the new DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER, ARROW and LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts…

RCcrushin2_aks

One thing I love to do in my card-making is to create little clusters or collages using a mix of different stamps, die-cuts, and embellishments. It’s a design concept that works with all sorts of different styles, from vintage to CAS.

RCcrushin2detail_aks

To keep your cluster from looking like your scrap pile ended up on your card, here are a few tips that work for me:

 [annotated photo: CCannotated_RCcrushin2_aks.jpg]

 CCannotated_RCcrushin2_aks

1. Mix up your shapes.

Here, I’ve got a large circle foundation, a few rectangle elements (including the arrow), a heart accent, and last, more circles for embellishments. The fishtail banner and the arrow tip also add triangles.

 2. Add a vertical or horizontal element that extends beyond the cluster. My favorites are punched or die-cut border strips, ticket strips, a stamped border image, or just a card stock or patterned paper scrap.

 3. Offset your elements for a loose carefree, more random-looking arrangement.

 4. Mix up your materials. Think burlap, wood, felt, cork, vellum, acetate, etc.

 5. Embellish in 3’s. Most of the time, with a collage/cluster design, small embellishments are going to work better in odd numbers, threes, fives, etc. Even if you’re using a lot of a really small embellishment (gems, sequins, rhinestones, etc.) arrange them in smaller trios.

 6. Embrace the negative space. Empty corners are OK! But if you must (like me) do something, vellum, stitching, small gems, or misting are subtle ways to add a little something without competing with your focal point cluster.

Here are a few more clustering examples, using some of all of the above tips:

My card today features a combination of the new set, CRUSHIN’ along with the new LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts and ARROW Confetti Cuts.  Of course, a little bling goes a long way, too…

Detail of the focal panel…

I added a small rounded edge white cardstock panel that I embossed on top of the LOVE NOTE rectangle and then layered my hearts, arrow and sentiment circle.

Note: The two four.teen circle is easily punched out with a 1 1/4″ circle punch.

For a little added detail, I adhered a couple small heart strips from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts dies set to the inside of the card…

Happy Monday, ‘Fetti Fans!

It’s day two of sneak peeks, or as we like to call them THE COUNTDOWN TO CONFETTI.  On Wednesday, January 8th, we will be releasing SIX new stamp sets, as well as THREE Confetti Cuts, our very own line of wafer thin dies.  If you missed our first day of sneak peeks, be sure to scroll down past this post so you don’t miss a thing.  Here’s our release schedule…

ReleaseSchedule

. . . . .

As a reminder, all of our releases will happen on the 8th of the month…just not every month.  We will release new product every other month.  We’ll still be hopping on the 8th, whether there is a release or not.  Just remember, “Eight is Great!”

It’s no secret that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Remember how much I love creating for Halloween?  Well, Valentine’s Day is a pretty close second!  The cards, the tags, the gifties, the goodies…oh, my! I’m just getting started with my Valentine projects today!

This month, our KEY WORDS COLLECTION sets are a little more on the lovey dovey side and perfect for all those Valentine’s creations, but they can definitely be used year round for those special people in your life, too!  I {heart} versatility!

We are releasing TWO KEY WORD COLLECTION sets this month.  It was just too hard to pick one, so we went with both and I am so glad that we did!  The first of our reveals is for the set, GO TOGETHER

GoTogether300

Like all of our KEY WORD COLLECTION sets, this set features a “key word” that you can mix and match to create a variety of different sentiments,  like those shown in this graphic…

GoTogetherMixSheet

The office geek in me couldn’t resist reaching for the CTRL C + CTRL V sentiment right off the bat to create this card, which will mostly likely be my hubby’s Valentine’s card…

JDTogether2

I also used the DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER Confetti Cuts die (the small side), the large heart from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts and the banner from the (previously released) TAG ME Confetti Cuts.

LoveNote  ScallopBorder

In addition to the “We Go Together Like…” and the other mix ‘n match sentiments, there is is also a house that has the “HOME is wherever we are TOGETHER” sentiment that I just LOVE!  I’ve used it on a card here, but I have some cute home decor ideas up my sleeve.  The main image panel base is the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts solid scallop rectangle and it is layered with the sentiment house, hearts (also from LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set) and new ARROW Confetti Cuts.  Beneath that panel is a black cardstock strip cut from the DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER Confetti Cuts (large side used on this card).

The new ARROW Confetti Cuts die…

And you thought that I was just revealing KEY WORD COLLECTION sets today!  Here is the full reveal for WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS, a set of 6 heart backgrounds that are the perfect addition to your cute and lovey projects.  I stamped the solid hearts with outlines on the kraft panel in VersaMark for a subtle pattern to accompany that loving TOGETHER sentiment.  (Detail shot below).

Our second KEY WORDS COLLECTION reveal is for the new set, SWEET THING.  This is such a fun set that I can definitely see myself using over and over throughout the year!

SweetThingMixSheet

My project using SWEET THING also features both of the Confetti Cuts dies from our last release: TAG ME and SWEET TREAT TENT, as well as the new DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER Confetti Cuts, LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts from this release…that’s a whole lotta dies on one project!

I layer the sentiment and die cuts on top of the SWEET TREAT TENT that is filled with a fun size bag of M&M’s.
