‘FETTI FINDS & NEW LINK LIST

By admin
on October 07, 2013

Hello and Happy Monday, ‘Fetti Fans!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, including World Card Making Day! I was a busy bee with family and such and didn’t get to play in the studio this weekend.  I’m hoping to make up for that this week, though…especially since I seem to be collecting a slightly ridiculous amount of Halloween themed pattern paper.  I just love it all!

. . . . .

Don’t forget, tomorrow is our monthly hop…

WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on October 04, 2013

WOW…Friday, already!?  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, but this week seemed to zooooom by!

I know that part of my weekend will be spent cheering for my alma mater, Arizona State University, who will be duking it out (here in Dallas) with Notre Dame.  Do I have tickets?…no (sniffle), but I’ll be cheering them on from the comforts of my living room sofa.  I’m hoping to get some crafty time in, too!

. . . . .

It’s time to take a peek back at what the Confetti Crew has created this week in our WEEK IN REVERSE.

Heather is just one of the designers that decided to use her Reverse Confetti stamps on a scrapbook page this week!  I just adore how this layout (the October SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY) and sentiment, along with the graphic background compliment the picture of her beautiful daughter with her face painted!

PEACOCK PRETTIES, I LIKE YOU

Val also did a scrapbook page.  I love all the elements and how she flipped the SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY to create this page featuring her son playing water polo.

ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS, LIGHTHEARTED LETTERS, COUNT YOUR RAINBOWS

This might just be one of my favorite cards from Amy Kolling!  I love all the colors and details and how stacked up all the images, dots and large sentiment.

SPOOKY CUTIES, SPOOKY SENTIMENTS, WHOLE LOTTA DOTS

Amy also used the latest SFYTT on this card that is just so sweet!  It’s the perfect card to give to a loved one!

Susan had a mind-share with Amy and came up with this fun card that also features 1-2-3.  Now, they’ve got me thinking I need to make one that says ABC!

Amy Sheffer sure knows how to WOW with her cards and this one is no exception!  I love how the simple white sentiment panel stands out against all the fun details.

Savannah knows how to put together some sweet treats!  If you missed the Confetti Camera post from yesterday, be sure you check it out!  I love her candy bag adorned with witch shoes here.

Laurie’s bright and cheerful card put a huge smile on my face!  Love the use of the buttons as the rainbow and her sparkly and colorful “COUNT.”

Lisa’s non-traditional rainbow colors are oh-so-fun paired with this sentiment.

Lisa also made this spooky and sweet card featuring this month’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.  The cauldron bubbles stamped repeatedly on the pattern behind the witch shoes is just one of the many awesome details on this card.

CONFETTI CAMERA

Howdy, Friends!

We’re glad that you are joining us for this week’s Confetti Camera!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations.  You’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration, as well as get to know each designer a little better through some interview questions that we have prepared.  A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member.

. . . . .

Don’t forget, we have a new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY and our weekly link list is open.

Let’s see your take on the sketch and all those Reverse Confetti projects!

. . . .

This week the Confetti Camera is zooming in on Confetti Crew member SAVANNAH O’GWYNN

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

I love that this tag is so SIMPLE and versatile! You could use just about any themed stamp set for this card (i.e. Christmas, birthday, etc.). I also love that we can put our information on the back for our new neighbors- perfect little tag for them to keep!

What was your process for making this project? Starting point?

I knew I wanted to make something simple for my Halloween treats. When I looked at the RC Spooky Cuties and Spooky Sentiment sets, I knew that I had to use those witch’s shoes and sentiments for my little tag!

What inspiration can others take from this project?

Like I mentioned earlier- this tag is so versatile! I def. think I’ll be making more of these tags for Christmas and birthdays!

. . . . .

Describe/Share your stamping space.

I have adopted Jennifer McGuire’s way of storing my stamps– I use some fridge bins along with clear plastic sleeves to hold all of my stamps and dies.

Let’s take a tour…

And, in pictures…

Studio1

Studio3

Studio4

Studio5

Do you have a clean desk/space before starting a project?

I usually do– however, in my video and pictures it doesn’t look like it! I am a HUGE clean freak!

What is your must have tool?

I absolutely loooooooove my CutterBee scissors! I use them 100% of the time! I usually fussy cut on every card I create, and these scissors are perfect for little details and fussy cutting!

Do you always make A2 sized cards? What’s your fav size to make?

I tend to start with an A2 sized card, but I always cut it down to whatever looks right! Most of my cards are between 3 1/2″ x 5″…. and sometimes I make square cards… and sometimes I even make a taller card (like 3 1/2″ x 7″)!

What is your favorite RC project so far… and why?

I love all of my creations….but I absolutely loooooooooove my fringe card, Thanks card, and any card using the chevrons from the Arrows ‘n Elements stamp set! I LOOOOVE that fringe card because it has an awesome color story and texture! I love that Thanks card because I cut apart the stamps to create this custom sentiment. And I love those chevrons! I LOVE adding them on the side of pictures and journaling cards, as well as using them as the background!

OCTOBER SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY

By admin
on October 01, 2013

Happy October, ‘Fetti Fans!

Oh my goodness, where has time gone.  I swear it was just yesterday that I was prepping for our first release (in May).  I blinked and it’s almost 5 months later.  I guess it’s true…time flies when you’re having fun!

. . . . .

Today it’s kind of a two-fer post…TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY + SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.

First, the OCTOBER SFYTT

SFYTT5_2

There are so many ways to make this sketch your own!  For this card, I used lots of layers and textures…and some creepy sparkly spiders to dress it up a bit along with the SPOOKY SENTIMENTS and ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS sets

SFYTTcard

For the 3 circles on the right side of the panel, I chose to go with burlap for something a little different and I love the contrast against the sparkly spiders (which scared the heck out of my kids!)…

SFYTTcard_detail

In addition to the 3 dimensional spiders and burlap, I also added texture and dimension by distressing the edges of my papers, sewing (I am now convinced my sewing machine has a personal vendetta against me after this experience) and embossing.  I even sanded down my embossed circles.

In addition to the sanded circles, you can also see the VersaMark stamped arrows from the ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS set on the the purple panel.  It’s subtle detail that I absolutely love.

SFYTTcard_detail2

The SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY details you need to know…

  • There will be a new sketch posted on the Reverse Confetti blog on the 1st of each month.
  • The sketch link list will be open from the 1st until noon CST on the 14th. The sketch will be posted in the sidebar and you will be able to click on it to get to that month’s SFYTT post with the link list during this time.
  • We originally stated that you must play with Reverse Confetti stamps to win; however, we are allowing “anything goes” until the end of the year. Note, that we will be adding this requirement in January.
  • You may enter as many times as you wish.
  • There will be a winner each month and that person will receive ALL OF THE STAMP SETS for the next release and be invited to share their creations during our sneak peeks and hop!  The winner of SFYTT will be posted on the Reverse Confetti blog on the 15th of each month.

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY & WINNER

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!  Congratulations to our WORLD GRATITUDE DAY HOP comment winner (taken from Amy Sheffer’s blog)…

Winner

Ruth, please email info@reverseconfetti.com

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that hopped along with us over the weekend!

. . . . .

It’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!

I love being able to mix and match my stamps, so the other day I was brainstorming  which (previously released) sets I could match up with the Halloween sets.  ** LIGHT BULB** when my eyes hit I LIKE YOU.  Since I can’t stop saying how much I love Halloween, I figured I might as well make a card that says it, too.  You can pretty much bank on a Christmas version of this in the coming months (don’t say I didn’t warn you).

I LIKE YOU, along with SPOOKY CUTIES and SPOOKY SENTIMENTS

ILikeYou

This card definitely has a lot of layers and depth.  Here’s a detail shot of the main image panel, which has a die cut circle base, a pinked circle and another circle layered on top.  By matting the pinked circle it is set off and catches the eye a little more than if it had not been.  From this angle, you can also see I popped up the pumpkin and the bat (both from SPOOKY CUTIES), as well as the “&” punched circle (from I LIKE YOU).  Did you know that a 3/4″ circle punch works perfectly for popping out/up the “&” circle?

ILikeYou_closeup2

I bet you didn’t expect to see aqua on a Halloween card!  I love how it pairs with the orange, black, purple and green!  I added aqua/teal colored sequins to tie into the aqua cardstock panel and to give the card a little bit of sparkly flair.

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

I love that the Reverse Confetti stamps have gotten me to step out of my comfort zone and create CAS cards. Who needs designer papers when you can create your own backgrounds?!

Here I’ve used SPOOKY CUTIES and SPOOKY SENTIMENTS.

SpookyCutiesProductGraphicBlogGraphic   SpookySentimentsBlogGraphic

What was your process on making this project? Did you have a starting point (color, inspiration, sketch)?

When it comes to Halloween I love to create using purples, oranges and greens. Rather than dark colours I went with a brighter colour scheme. I knew I wanted to use several different images and it’s always fun to mix and match!

What inspiration can others take from this project?

What I think others should take away from my project is how versatile Reverse Confetti stamps are. I often times mix and match several sets to create a card. It’s always so much fun! Making a background as I’ve done here or creating a small scene.

. . . . .

Describe/Share your stamping space.

Aqua Filing Cabinet

I’m currently in the process of setting up my stamping space again. Moving is always difficult but I enjoy decluttering my room and starting fresh in a new space. I have a picture of my filing cabinet that Brian picked up for me a few months ago. My dad painted it a pretty aqua colour and it’s perfect for all my cardstock!

Do you have to clean your desk before starting a new project?

Oh most definitely! If I don’t, then I’m yelling for Chloe to help me find my glue dots or something. I have a hard enough time finding things when they are right in front of me, let alone under a mess. Besides I find it easier to concentrate when it’s tidy.

What is your must-have tool?  Why do you like it so much?

Not sure that I can create a project without using my Big Shot and dies. Even the simplest of projects need a little something, right?

Do you always make A2 sized cards?  If you deviate from the standard size, what favorite size to make?

I quite often create 5 x 5 cards but they aren’t the easiest to find envelopes for. Plus mailing them cost a tad more so most often they are the ones that are hand delivered.

What is your favorite RC project so far? Why?

Oh my gosh….my favourite RC project….hmmmmm…..I love to create with RC stamps and I’ve missed stamping the past two weeks!

Looking back through my posts I would have to say it’s this one:

Dawn4

As I’ve said several times, the RC stamps are so fun to mix and match. That’s exactly what I’ve done here using three different sets: WHOLE LOTTA DOTS, ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS and CELEBRATE CAKE.

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on September 18, 2013

Hello and happy Wednesday!

I was checking out the links on the the ‘Fetti Find link list last night and all I can say is “WOW!”  You all are totally rockin’ Reverse Confetti stamps!  It makes my heart smile!

. . . . .

It’s time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on SWING CARDS, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

So, I think that I may have mentioned that I am not a technique person.  Did you think that I was going to say that I love Halloween? *wink*

I have been stamping for a long time and really have never gotten into techniques.  Besides lack of interest, I think that they are often times messy, don’t match my style, are time consuming or I end up using 4 times the amount of paper to get it just perfect.  With that being said, I am sure you understand my reluctance to try techniques and such. I need to get over it, right? Well, I gave it a go on a folding technique.

I keep running into swing cards on Pinterest and other various galleries.  I know that they are nothing new to the paper crafting world but, in a way, they are new to me because I have never even attempted to do one.  So, I decided to give it a shot.  I’ve seen a variety of shapes and sizes done and knew that I wanted to make one that would fit into an A2 envelope and that had a circle swing.  I checked out a few YouTube videos and used the basic measurements from THIS video and die-cutting instructions from THIS video.  I had planned to have a photo tutorial on how I made this card, but I will be honest with you in saying that it is much better seen in video (which I don’t do quite yet).

It was really easy to do and I love the results!

SwingCardFront

For the front circle panel, I used the “October 31” sentiment from the SPOOKY SENTIMENTS set and combined it with images from the SPOOKY CUTIES set.  I used a combination of Copic C4, C1 and Blender on the ghost to give him (her?) a little more depth.  The fence is stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black ink and then embossed with Ultra Think Clear Embossing Powder.  I very lightly crumpled up the fence after I embossed it to crack the embossed area and give it a bit of a weathered look.

SwingCardFront_detail

There is a bat that is cut out and attached to either side of the circle swing panel.  I had originally wanted to attach the bat with a piece of thin wire, but I didn’t have any on hand (not even wire from wired ribbon!), so I had to go with Plan B.

SwingCardFront2

SwingCardFront_swing

The opposite side of the circle panel…

SwingCardOpen

I added the solid pumpkin (scored to meet the score/crease in the card), as well as the black cat silhouette from SPOOKY CUTIES.  The polka dot pumpkin (from FOREVER FALL) was a last minute addition that I am glad that I sneaked in there.

And, one last one of the card laying flat…

It’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY and I’ve been getting inky with the new Halloween sets…SPOOKY CUTIES and SPOOKY SENTIMENTS. These two sets are made to go together or they can be used on their own.  The words in SPOOKY SENTIMENTS are made to stack, like subway art, or they can be used individually on your cards, tags and other Halloween projects.

It’s always fun to add a little bit of texture to a project.  For this clean and simple card I brought out the neon green embossing powder not only as a fun color element, but for a its sleek  texture, too.

Spookyx3

Here are a few detail shots of that sweet lil’ ghostie and that super fun neon embossing powder…

Gotta keep this short and sweet today.  Lots to ink, cut and paste…and that’s just with my preschooler!
