CONFETTI CAMERA

By admin
on September 12, 2013

Howdy, Friends!

We’re glad that you are joining us for this week’s Confetti Camera!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations.  You’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration, as well as get to know each designer a little better through some interview questions that we have prepared.  A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member.

. . . . .

Before we jump into the CC post, just a quick reminder that we want to see YOUR Reverse Confetti creations!  Link ‘em up on Monday’s ‘Fetti Finds link list (new link list each Monday).  There’s a find-it-fast button over on the sidebar.

. . . . .

This week the Confetti Camera is zooming in on Confetti Crew member Laurie Schmidlin!

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

I like the homespun feel of the colors and patterns.  It just seems warm, cozy, and perfect for Fall (even though it is not meant to be a season specific card)!  Oh, and the glitter…I do love me some glitter!

What was your process on making this project? Did you have a starting point (color, inspiration, sketch)?

I usually always start with either certain colors that I’ve pictured in my mind or patterned paper.  It probably seems like a backwards way to start, but that is how it usually goes for me!

What inspiration can others take from this project?

Hmmm.  I guess the softer more subtle colors of the focal image/sentiment contrasted with the busy and bolder colors of the background actually make the image stand out more instead of taking away from it.  I also love how the card opens a little differently.  I seem to always make cards that open from the bottom, so I thought this was a fun way to spice things up a bit!

. . . . .

Describe/Share your stamping space.

Stamp organization:

I like to organize mine by date (right now) but will probably plan on changing it to alphabetical order at some point.

RC Organization1

RC Organization2

RC Organization3

Do you have to clean your desk before starting a new project?

I have got to have a clean space to create.  If (and I’ll be honest…when) my room gets messy, I find it seriously messes with my mojo!  I adore an uncluttered and organized area!  Almost always I clean up and put everything away after every single project.  Even if I’m going to just start on another one right away!

What is your must-have tool? Why do you like it so much?

That’s a tough one.  I never have liked to be limited to just one of anything!  LOL!  If I had narrow it down, though, I would say my paper trimmer and Scor-Buddy!  I am almost as obsessive about straight, clean cuts and folds as I am about cleaning up my stamping area!  Another must have for me is probably my Stamp-a-ma-jig!  I measure and line up everything!  My daughter thinks I’m nuts and laughs at me most of the time, but I do love my images and sentiments all lined up nicely!  (Yes, I used my stamp-a-ma-jig on the card above!)

Do you always make A2 sized cards? If you deviate from the standard size, what favorite size to make?

I would say most of them are A2 sized, but I do like the odd sizes as well!  Shaped cards, square cards, circle cards, pocket cards…they are all fun to make!  I consider myself and “equal opportunity” card maker!  Hee!

What is your favorite RC project so far? Why?

Well, like I mentioned earlier, I have a hard time limiting myself to one of anything (blush).  I couldn’t narrow it down to just one, so I chose my top two.  The first one I love because of the unique shape of the card and how the white border really causes the other colors to really pop!  The second card features many of my favorite things:  tone on tone heat embossing, machine stitching, tilted panels, wooden embellishments, and white ink on kraft cardstock!

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on August 27, 2013

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

I’m definitely happy that it’s not Monday anymore!  We made it through the first day of school and tae kwon do…along with a dead car battery (realized as I was hurrying to get to school for pick up).  While hubby was fixing the car battery, I dropped a full and open Diet Dr. Pepper on the last step of our staircase, sending soda flying everywhere in the foyer.  Needless to say, everyone (especially me) was ready for bed quite early last night.  I sure am hoping for a little creative escape today…I certainly need it!  Is stamping therapeutic for you, too?  It seems that all my stresses are able to melt away momentarily while I am creating.

. . . . .

It’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAYHAPPY HARBOR was still sitting on my desk from the card I made for last week’s Wednesday in the Works.  I’m a huge fan of the nautical theme/trend and I love inking up this set!

YoureSwell

In addition to the HAPPY HARBOR set, I also brought in the stripe rectangle and coordinating pennant from ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS (now back in stock!).  The “you’re swell” sentiment fits perfectly in the rectangle.

The rest of the card is all about mixing and matching this and that and bringing together colors that I thought looked good together.  If someone told me that aqua, yellow, red, light and dark gray and kraft would be a good color palette to work with for a nautical themed card, I may had said that they were nuts.  I really didn’t plan on these colors, but someway, somehow they ended up in an array on my desk and I went with it.  A happy accident, I suppose, because I really do like how these colors look together.  The picture is showing the dark gray more as a navy, which gives me more ideas and options for using this palette in the future.

WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on August 23, 2013

Hello and TGIF!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!  I’ve seen a lot of kiddos’ first day of school pics on Facebook and we are gearing up for ours next week.  Supplies-check, first day of school outfit-check, to bed early-check.  I have to admit that I have be looking forward to school being back in session, but now that it is upon us I want a few more weeks of fun, sun and a little bit of doing nuthin’.  I’m sure that warm and fuzzy feeling will wear off the next time I hear, “Moooooooommmmmm, can I/will you? or he/she’s doing this, that or the other…”  Anyone else know this feeling?  Certainly, I am not alone here.

. . . . .

A couple of notes before I get started on WEEK IN REVERSE:

1. ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS is BACK IN STOCK!!

2. Don’t forget to upload your Reverse Confetti creations to the weekly link list for a chance to win the ENTIRE NEXT RELEASE.  Find it Fast link on the sidebar.

CONFETTI CAMERA

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

I really love that this is a totally STAMPED card.  Just plain stamping…….no fancy dies or pattern paper (which I LOVE don’t get me wrong)!

What was your process on making this project? Did you have a starting point (color, inspiration, sketch)?

My starting point for this was to search my favorite challenge blogs for a theme or color combination.  I found a great color challenge using aqua, green, and orange.  I thought this color combination would be perfect with the Inner Rock Star set from Reverse Confetti……kinda funky and fun!

What inspiration can others take from this project?

I really like the border on the left using a banner stamp that was stamped multiple times, cut out, and adhered to the main panel.  Remember, I did not use fancy dies for this card!  The other thing is….don’t be afraid to do a little fussy cutting!  My guitars and the borders were cut by hand but did not take a ton of time to do but I love the result!

 . . . . .

Describe/Share your stamping space.

AmyKspace

Typic

My stamping space is a very cluttered MESS.  Yes, I admit it.  It’s been a work (or mess) in progress for some time.  I’m quite embarrassed to show you anything other than my desk at this time and this is even a cleaned up desk for this pic!  I am lucky to say that I have an extra room in our basement that could be a bedroom but I claimed it for my space when we moved in!  At one time, I did share it with my husband but he has since moved to the kitchen table.  hehe

Do you have to clean your desk before starting a new project?

Yes and no.  My desk is never totally cleaned off…..that being said, after every project, I do put those supplies away and leave my stamping space clean for the next project.  Now, if I could just clean the rest of my desk………..

What is your must-have tool?  Why do you like it so much?

I’m not quite sure I can name just one so I’ll just say that my favorites are my Fiskars paper trimmer, Scor-Pal, and my Big Shot/dies.  I love my dies a LOT……my friends will agree.  I have one of the first Big Shots and because I use it on nearly every card, I recently bought a “back up” just in case it breaks.

Do you always make A2 sized cards?  If you deviate from the standard size, what favorite size to make?

I generally make A2 sized cards but occasionally find myself using my dies to shape a card.

What is your favorite RC project so far? Why?

My favorite RC project is one of the very first I created for RC’s first release!  My “you’re swell” card uses a fabulous color combination and the layout is one of my favorites with a layered window.  A side note about this card……..I had it all done and thought, it’s missing something.  Then I realized that the lighthouse needed something.  I searched through my RC sets and found the little stamp with 3 dots (it’s actually bubbles for the fish).  Stamping my “rays” for the lighthouse was a last minute detail but one that really made me LOVE this card!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on August 21, 2013

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

It’s time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on THE NAUTICAL CRAZE, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

It’s not a surprise that the nautical trend is still going very strong!  Anchors, whales and lighthouses, oh my!

Using the HAPPY HARBOR set, I created this card…

Detail shot…

Again, I went sans pattern paper.  I better not get too used to that since I have a slew of new 6×6 pads that are begging to be used!  I used the rope stamped twice across the aqua panel to create my own “pattern paper”.  In addition to the rope, this set also has the strip of small anchors to use as a border and/or stamp repeatedly to create pattern paper.  I had originally placed a navy scallop panel where the anchors are and then thought that it would be fun to create a colored “panel” by using the repeating anchors.  LOVE this look…sweet and simple!

‘FETTI FINDS

By admin
on July 01, 2013

This is the first of two posts for today! The new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY is posted in the second post.

. . . . .

Hello ‘Fetti Fans!  It’s time to announce this week’s ‘FETTI FINDS!

Each week I am just in awe with your creations using REVERSE CONFETTI stamps.  Thank you all for playing and keep those awesome creations coming!  Please check out the details under the FIND pics, along with the current link list.

LISA HENKE is our first ‘FETTI FIND.

She created not just one, but two cards with HAPPY HARBOR that just made my jaw drop!  Congrats Lisa on being a ‘FETTI FIND!  Here are her cards…

LISAH1

LISAH2

JUDY ROZEMA is also a ‘FETTI FIND!

Congrats, Judy!  Let’s take a peek at the great HAPPY HARBOR card she created…

JudyR

Lisa and Judy, grab the button from below for your blog (or email me and I will send it to you).

. . . . .

Now for the details, which I am switching up just a tiny bit.

Why am I switching things up?  Glad you asked!

Last week when I was writing the ‘Fetti Find post which also had the ‘Fetti Fave voting, along with the new link list I got to thinking that it was all a little confusing.  Also, in talking with the design team and others, I found that people are not interested in the voting for the ‘Fetti Fave and that there is a concern that it would turn into a popularity contest.  Taking my own feelings into account, as well as the comments from I others I decided to tweak a few things…for the better!

FettiFind_L

Each Monday we’ll be posting:

  • The ‘FETTI FINDS from the previous week’s link list.
  • A new link list at the bottom of the ‘Fetti Find post.  It will remain open through Saturday of that week.

NOTE: You’ll be able to find the current ‘Fetti Find post quickly by clicking on the button the sidebar.

The last day of the month:

  • The ‘FETTI FAVE will be announced here on the Reverse Confetti blog.  This will be one of the ‘Fetti Finds from that month and they will be chosen based on their project and creative use of REVERSE CONFETTI stamps.  The ‘FETTI FAVE will receive the ENTIRE NEXT STAMP RELEASE and be invited to play along with the Confetti Crew for sneak peek days and the new release hop.

Just a couple of rules…

  • Anything goes, as long as Reverse Confetti stamps are the only stamps used OR are the main focal point of the project.
  • No limit to the number of projects linked, but they must be posted to your blog or gallery that same week (no linking older projects).

Alright, it’s your turn now!

WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on June 28, 2013

Hello and TGIF ‘Fetti Friends and Fans!  I hope you all are enjoying a fantastic summer vacation.  We are knee deep in new release prep…and swim lessons here!  Needless to say, it’s been a crazy (and fun!) week.  And, it looks like there is more of that to come as the summer rolls on.  To that I say, “bring it!”

. . . . .

It’s the CONFETTI CREW that has been “bringin’ it” all week!  These girls never cease to amaze me with their talent.  Here’s what they came up with this week…

AmyS_ILY

Amy S.  has such a beautiful style!  I always love looking at all the details to her creations, especially this one using I LIKE YOU.

Heather_ILY

Heather’s I LIKE YOU creation is just too cute!  Who wouldn’t love a giftie topped with this tag!?

val

Val’s I LIKE YOU card simply makes me smile!  Her use of colors, fresh design and that lil’ bit of sparkle are just perfect!

Sav_DIC

Savannah’s card using DREAM IN COLOR is so graphic and fun!  I love how fun this card is that she cut her stamps to make her own sentiment…clever!

Amber_PP

Amber’s PEACOCK PRETTIES card is just so pretty!  Great details and a fun take on the sketch she used!

PeacockPrettiesDS107byDawn

WOW, does this pack a punch of bright fun summer-y color!  Dawn’s card uses the same sketch as Amber’s card above and even uses PEACOCK PRETTIES, too.  I love how different designers can come up with different takes on the same sketch (inspiration, etc.).  Way to go, girls!

Laurie

Whale Done, is right!  This card by Laurie using HAPPY HARBOR is cuteness perfected!

AmyK_HH

Another card Whale Done!  This HAPPY HARBOR creation is from Amy K. and just love all the clean cut lines and the rope detail!

. . . . .

Have a great weekend, friends!  I’ll be working on my tan as we build a playset for the littles in the backyard.  Of course, a bit of time will be spent stamping away in the cool air conditioning, too.

And, as always, I send you off with this special note…
