Howdy, ‘Fetti Fans!

Are you local to North Texas?  If so, I hope you will join us this weekend!

Happy Thursday and welcome to the latest CONFETTI CAMERA!

ConfettiCameraRCblog

A little bit about Confetti Camera…

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations. For this round, you’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration from throwback projects from each of our designers.  I have been stamping for a long time and I have seen things come and go and then come around.  A primary example of this is shaker cards.  We’re taking a look back to those “way back when” projects and breathing new life into them.

A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such as Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will follow the same theme until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member (then it’s a new round with new questions/theme). To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

Today, the spotlight is on the fun and wildly talented, LISA HENKE

Hello! I loved the theme of this round of Confetti Camera, “Everything Old is New Again” challenge. I went looking back through the Tutorials page on Splitcoast Stampers. OH, MY there is a wealth of info and tutorials over there. I stumbled upon a beaded pen tutorial and remember that being one of the first non-card project I ever did when I began paper crafting. Lucky me, I still had half a container of clear micro beads. I didn’t just want to do the pen and then I remembered these Corner Bookmarks we made at a class I taught years ago.

RC-bookmark pen combo-A

The book mark was quick and easy. If you are a member on SCS you can find the tutorial listed under Corner Book Mark. You need a 4 inch square piece of card stock, mark the center of three sides and score them to fold in two triangles. Cut a smaller square, 2 3/4 inches and cut in half to create your customized stamped piece.

RC-bookmarkB

I used the gorgeous new YOU ARE A STAR stamp set and matching Confetti Cuts to decorate my book mark. My son is working hard om his summer reading for school, so I thought this would put a smile on his face. I picked some bright, fun, but boyish colors. I added some white dots along the bottom strip with WHOLE LOTTA DOTS. The orange dots are from ROUNDABOUT.

RC-camera book mark C

Here is the backside and how it slips onto the book page.

RC- camera-bookmark backside D

The coordinating pen was simple, too. I used a 2×4 mailing label to stamp my design on.

rc-camera pen and cap E

I used the same You Are a Star stamps in the same colors, but this time added punches of orange with the COLOR ME HAPPY stamp set. I needed to fill in the white space a little more since I would be wrapping the label around the pen.

rc-pen design F

Next use a strong double sided tape (I like to use Red Line tape) to cover the stamped label. Peel off the stamped label with the red line still attached and wrap it around the pen. When you have the pen wrapped, remove the liner and roll into micro beads. Give them a good pressing, I like to use a bone folder for extra pressure and to make sure the beads adhere to the tap.

rc-pen tape G

Here’s a closer look at the finished pen. A nice finishing touch was a small die cut star from You are a Star Confetti Cut tied on with some silver twine around the pen cap.

I hope you’ll feel inspired to try something old and make it new again. Thanks so much!

DEAR ‘FETTI FANS & WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By Jen del Muro
on June 25, 2015

Dear ‘Fetti Fans,

It’s Jen here.  I feel like I’ve been a little MIA since the end of school and since our move from Houston to Flower Mound, TX.  I promise I have not fallen off the face of the Earth…although some days it feels like it.

Not to complain, because I am SO HAPPY to be back in my old neighborhood where I feel my heart is home, but this move has been tortuous at moments.  From multiple delayed closings, bad movers, a really dirty home to move into and various other things that haven’t gone according to plan, it’s been a wee bit trying.

Let me elaborate on those things a little bit:

Multiple Delayed Closings: really, that one speaks for itself.  At one point I had to tell my realtor to make sure it gets done or I was firing her and the buyers weren’t getting the house…after 45 days in escrow. Believe me, it takes A LOT for me to get my blood boiling like that.

Crappy Movers: How bad could they be?  BAD…really, really BAD (and recommended by above said realtor).  For instance, we couldn’t find the clips for the shelf of my daughter’s armoire.  We look for them taped to the side of the armoire, in a bag in a drawer, etc.  Where were they?…in a pocket of a pair of jeans in one of the drawers.  Yes, seriously.

Dirty Home: 8 bottles of Scrubbing Bubbles and 10 Magic Erasers. ’nuff said

Various Other Things: Including 1 tech spending 18 hours doing an installation that was expected to take 3.5 hours.  Good times.

Really, I’m not complaining.  Ok, maybe I have vented to my hubs a little, but I’m happy here.  Very happy.

Things are coming together and I’ve managed to keep a smile on my face through most of it.   Now, if I could just get in the craft room!!

More great things from Reverse Confetti are on their way!  Our July release is around the corner and it is amazing! We’re making room for lots of new goodies…and retiring some of the older stuff.  Stay tuned for a list of retiring sets in the Friday newsletter, as well as here on the blog and on our social media outlets.

. . . . .

Now, for the crafty fun stuff…

It’s Thursday and time for CONFETTI CAMERA!

The lovely and talented, SARAH GOUGH, is up on Confetti Camera today!

SarahIntroPic

One of my favorite fancy fold card bases is a tent card. It’s perfect for sending a relatively flat, but fun card and is perfect to show off your stamps and dies in a scene.

Here’s a quick how-to for this 4″x4″ version.

You’ll want to start with a 4″ square card base.

confetticamera-step- (1)

Score a 4″ x 2″ piece of cardstock every 1/2 an inch.

confetticamera-step- (9)

Fold into a W shape and set aside.

confetticamera-step- (8)

Adhere paper or stamp your card front. Choose a die to cut a window. I’m using the Circles ‘n Scallops Confetti Cuts. Remember to open your card base before you cut!

confetticamera-step- (7)

I wanted a nice border on the inside of my window. Cut a smaller than your card front piece of cardstock into a square and cut a smaller window to layer inside your card. Again I’m using the Circles ‘n Scallops Confetti Cuts.

confetticamera-step- (5)

Put a strong adhesive on the outside of your W shaped piece and adhere to the bottom edge of your card base. Now’s a great time to adhere patterned paper or stamp the inside of your card.

confetticamera-step- (4)

Your tent card will fold flat(ish), but also stand up on it’s own.

confetticamera-step- (3)

I’m decorating with the awesome The Buzz stamp set and Confetti Cuts.

confetticamera-step- (2)

This fun branch is from the The Tweet Life Confetti Cuts. Adhere above and below your window for a fun 3D look.

tentcard-confetticamera-Sarah-finishedcard (1)

I’ve also used the Sun ‘n Clouds Confetti Cuts to complete my scene. The sentiment is stamped on vellum cut with the Tag Me Confetti Cuts. I’ve hidden adhesive behind the little bee – vellum is great for these cards as it won’t detract from your scene.

tentcard-confetticamera-Sarah-finishedcard (5)

Here’s another look at the construction of the Tent Card – once you’ve made one you can make them any size you like!

Hello ‘Fetti Fans and Happy Hump Day!

We have an awesome WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS to share with you today!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS?

It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between. Today, Confetti Crew member, Sarah Gough, shows you how to put together some of the products from our latest release to create a fabulous shaker card.

. . . . .

SarahIntroPic

I love making shaker cards, and they’ve never been easier than with the new Shakers ‘n Frames Confetti Cuts! If you’ve never made a shaker card before, I’ll show you how easy it is (and share a few mistakes I’ve made in the past so you don’t follow in my footsteps!) If shaker cards are your go-to thing already, you’re going to love all the customization you can do with these Confetti Cuts!

WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on January 30, 2015

Hey, hey ‘Fetti Fans and Happy Friday (and Super Bowl weekend).

Do you have fun plans for the game?  I have to admit, we’re going to be duds and just hang out at home.  I’m more interested in the commercials than the teams playing this year.  I guess that’s just about every year though, but sometimes cheering occurs in between the commercials, too.  My (8 year old) daughter is excited to see Katy Perry perform at half-time.  I’m crossing my fingers for no wardrobe malfunctions, etc!

. . . . .

It’s Friday, so you know what that means…

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on January 27, 2015

Hello and Happy Tuesday, ‘Fetti Fans!

Well, we survived Monday so it’s time for TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!

I had a lot of fun creating the card that I am sharing today.  Confetti Crew member and friend, Stacey Schafer, introduced me to the Ranger watercolor paper.  I love using this stuff in conjunction with Reverse Confetti goodies to create fun cards (and such)!

crushin

For this card I created a pink ombre watercolor background and then cut it out with the PRETTY PANELS: BIG CHEVRON from our latest release.  I backed it with the rounded rectangle from CLASS ACT Confetti Cuts (made to go together).

On top of the ombre BIG CHEVRON panel, I layered a BEAUTIFUL BANNERS Confetti Cuts die cut (cut from gray stripe paper), an Arrow Confetti Cuts die cut and a sparkly gold heart cut from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set.

crushin1

The patterned paper panels underneath are cut from the DOCUMENTED Confetti Cuts die set from our January release (LOVE this die set!) and stamped with the CRUSHIN’ namesake sentiment.  As a finishing touch, I added a bit of bling with some gold sequins randomly placed.  It’s amazing how long it takes to “randomly” place these lil’ things!

crushin3

This wasn’t the only fun that I had playing with watercolors!  If you follow Reverse Confetti on Instagram, last week you caught a little peek of the base of the card that I’ll be showing tomorrow. (Yea, the one that looked like I was bleeding).  It turned out to be a super cute card (in my humble opinion)!  See you tomorrow with the finished product!

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on January 20, 2015

Howdy, ‘Fetti Fans!

I hope those of you that had a 3-day weekend thoroughly enjoyed it.  I spent the weekend throwing a party for my “baby” that is now FIVE, working on new stamp and Confetti Cuts designs (oh.em.gee…you are going to love what we have designed/planned) and basking in the 70* sunshine that we were blessed with for the past couple of days.  Oh…and I got a little bit of “create time” in, too!  That’s what I call a pretty darn good weekend!

Well, it’s Tuesday so it’s time for TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!

Shaker cards are back in a big way!  I remember creating these at my neighbors stamp camps just a *few* years ago and it’s exciting that the trend has come back around, especially with sequins being so hot, too!

GrowWithLove

To create the window, I used the large rounded rectangle panel from the new DOCUMENTED Confetti Cuts die set and one of the PRETTY PANELS that I had on my desk.  I simply put both of them on top of the gray heart paper and ran it through my Big Shot and viola…window!

The acetate and the backing that the sentiment (from LOVE BLOOMS) is on, are also cut from the large rounded rectangle from the DOCUMENTED Confetti Cuts die set.

On the top of the frame, I stamped and die cut flowers and leaves from LOVE BLOOMS with the coordinating LOVE BLOOMS Confetti Cuts.  Don’t you love that color?  It’s Papaya Cream pigment ink from ColorBox.  It just looks perfect with these flowers!

GrowWithLove1

As you can see, I used a variety of sizes and colors of sequins.  These soft subtle tones play well off of the flowers and coordinate nicely with the other colors on the card.  While we thought (and thought!) about bringing sequins into the Reverse Confetti product line-up, we ultimately decided to pass.  I get all of my sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and Cartwright’s Sequins (they have a TON).

One last shot of all these pretty sequins…

GrowWithLove2

. . . . .

That’s all for now!  I have more stamp and Confetti Cuts designs to work on (squeeeeeel).

Next up is a project I created using the new sets HERE’S THE STORY, RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW, as well as the new DOCUMENTED Confetti Cuts die set (and, previously released, LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set)…

Frame1

This is frame that I picked up from a bin at Michaels.  It’s been sitting in my “do something with this” stash (everyone has one of these, right?).  I took out the glass so that I could make my project more dimensional.  I was able to make it a shadowbox(ish) by putting in the mat (covered with a piece of patterned paper cut to match) and then pressing down the tabs on the back to secure it.  I then added the back of the frame on top of the tabs that were pressed down and secured to frame with tape.  I was fortunate that the back of the frame sat on top on the tabs and was flush with the frame base.

Detail shots…

Frame3

Sewn hearts (cut from LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts) and sentiment from HERE’S THE STORY

Frame2

. . . . .

This card uses the new LOVE BLOOMS stamps and LOVE BLOOMS Confetti Cuts die set.  I love how clean it looks and how the flowers pop off the white background…

LoveBlooms2

Detail shot of the heat embossed sentiment (on circle cut from CIRCLES ‘N SCALLOPS Confetti Cuts) and florals…

. . . . .

One more project and then I am sending you on your way to see all of the other Confetti Crew creations.

This final project features the new SUGARY SWEET SENTIMENTS stamp set and SQUARE TAG in a way that is perfect for a guy’s Valentine or for anytime you want to give someone a sweet pat on the back…

YouRock1

I “popped” Pop Rocks into a chevron glassine bag and paired it with an embellished SQUARE TAG Confetti Cuts die (flag-ended piece from TAG ME Confetti Cuts and stars from OH MY STARS Confetti Cuts) and attached it with a mini clothespin.  Detail shot…

It’s Wednesday and time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

What’ is Wednesday in the works?

The Confetti Crew have been sharing some amazing tags lately, and I just love a pretty tag on a plainly wrapped parcel at Christmas time – tres chic! I’ve made some burlap based tags with lots of different textures using some of my favorite Confetti Cuts and a bright pop of non traditional color!
