WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on October 22, 2014

Hey, hey ‘Fetti Fans!

It’s Wednesday and time for a fun and kind of technique-y WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS.  I know what you’re thinking…two days in a row with techniques(s).  Parenthesis around the “s” because it’s the same technique, but YES!  I am having quite a bit of fun adding texture to my Reverse Confetti projects.  So much so, that I thought that I would share a little “how to.”

First, what is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS?

It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.  And, as I noted above, I am sharing how to add some fun texture to your Reverse Confetti cards and projects…with embossing paste.

So, here it goes…

First, what you are going to need are a stencil, embossing paste and color/shimmer spray (totally optional, but wait ’til you see how cool it looks with the embossing paste).  Of course, the other elements of your card, too.  I am showing you how to use the stencil and paste on a TAG ME, TOO Confetti Cuts die cut…

Supplies

I cut out one TAG ME, TOO Confetti Cuts die cut and then applied the embossing paste to it using a piece of cardstock (no fancy tools, here).  After I peeled up the stencil and allowed it to dry, this is what it looked like…

TagWithEP

I then sprayed the color spray on top of the embossed tag.  I used the amethyst that is shown above and it made gigantic mess because there was a clog in the sprayer (ugh!).  Fortunately, when I buy things I sometimes buy them in just about every color I can get my hands on.  Then it was off to the aqua color color spray, which I actually like a lot better!

I apologize that I don’t have a stop out picture showing just the die cut, embossing pasted, color sprayed tag, but here it is on my completed card…

(pardon the smudgy marks…that was me trying some new settings on the camera).

TreatsCard2

The main image panel has a sentiment created from the LIGHTHEARTED LETTERS stamp set, along with the “TREATS” die from the TREAT TOTE Confetti Cuts die set.  The debossed circle is part of the CIRCLES ‘N SCALLOPS Confetti Cuts die set.

TreatsCard_detail

Recognize the sketch?  Yep, it’s this month’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY!  There are still a few more days to play along for a chance to win.  All the details can be found HERE.

And, one more shot of the completed card.  I just love the texture and color pop of the tag behind the main image panel!

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on October 21, 2014

Hello ‘Fetti Fans and welcome to TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!

I have to admit that most times I create just to create.  Those projects go into my stash to be used later.  However, when I create with a certain person/event in mind, I have so much fun.  That was the case with this card that I made for my hubby’s cousin’s upcoming wedding.

BestWishes

Flowers from the PETALS ‘N POSIES stamp set, along with the coordinating PETALS ‘N POSIES Confetti Cuts were an obvious choice, but I decided to do a slightly non-traditional color palette for this fun couple.  The sentiment is from the IN A BIG WAY sentiment stamp set and I love how it takes center stage here (on a debossed circle from CIRCLES ‘N SCALLOPS).

Stop the presses…I got technique-y again.  I had so much fun with embossing paste the last time I used it, I went ahead and reached for it again to create the textured chevron background on the white panel. (Sorry, I don’t know who made the stencil, as it was a find at a craft show with no label).

I put the finishing touches on it with a few sequins…since every wedding card should have a little bling!

Detail shot…

BestWishes_detaill

Guess what?  I had so much fun with the embossing paste again that I made another card.  I’ll be blogging that tomorrow, along with how I took another “technique-y” step with it.

A SPECIAL WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on September 17, 2014

Hello ‘Fetti Fans!

Today I have a super fun WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS post for you!  Reverse Confetti is the sponsor for the new sketch over on StampNation…how fun is that?!?

Catherine (of CatherinePooler.com/StampNation) and I have collaborated on a few things in the past, but I have to admit that has been by favorite so far!

The sketch is posted over on the Stamp Nation site and here’s my take on it using CAST A SPELL, CAST A SPELL Confetti Cuts, TAG ME Confetti Cuts, OH MY STARS Confetti Cuts and CIRCLES ‘N SCALLOPS Confetti Cuts…

Today, you’ll see cards from not only the Confetti Crew, but also from the talented StampNation Design Team HERE.

Not a member yet?  Today’s the last day for the $1 trial (sweet!).  You can get that HEREIt’s a wonderful community of stampers and there is always something new and fun to learn and see!

Catherine is also up today here on the Reverse Confetti blog with her take on the sketch with some of your favorite Reverse Confetti products!  I told you today was special and fun!

First, a note from Catherine herself…

Thank you so much to Jen for having me as a guest designer today and for hosting the challenge at StampNation this week! We have been blown away at the creativity from both Design Teams, but I really shouldn’t have been too surprised! When you are using RC stamps, great things happen! I got to play with Fresh & Fruity and have made FOUR cards with the set. The oranges on this card were Rock and Rolled to create depth and dimension and I couldn’t resist adding Frosted Lace Stickles to the oranges…now they are almost good enough to eat! I hope you enjoy the video – be sure to watch until the end for a little surprise. Check out my blog tomorrow, too for another fun card with this set and an out-of-the-box way to use it.

Do you love big sentiments on your cards, scrapbook layouts and other paper crafting project?  So do we!

Introducing IN A BIG WAY

InABigWayProductGraphicA

In addition to introducing you to this great new sentiment set, I also want to show you one of the two new PRETTY PANELS Confetti Cuts that I used on my first couple of cards for this post.

Introducing PRETTY PANELS: TRIANGLES Confetti Cuts…

PPTrianglesProductGraphicA

For these cards, I kept it very clean and simple.  I love how the IN A BIG WAY sentiment pops against the colored PRETTY PANELS: TRIANGLES layer and white base.

TrianglesHelloCard

The PRETTY PANELS: TRIANGLES Confetti Cuts die cut is cut from watercolor paper that I colored with pink, orange and yellow.  I then applied a very thin layer Diamond Glaze so that it would have some sheen to it.

TrianglesHello

As you know, I love dimension.  Here is a shot of how it is all popped up…

I had so much fun creating this card, that I also made it in blue and purple with the “Thanks” sentiment from IN A BIG WAY

Yesterday, I showed you the new TREAT TOTE.  That is just one of the totes that we are releasing this month!

TAGGED TOTE

TaggedToteProductGraphicA

This die set contains SEVEN Confetti Cuts dies!

The base of the tote has a rounded top and we have included a rounded top panel to coordinate with it.  This rounded top panel can be used as a layer on the tote (or any other paper crafting project); however, you can also turn it into a tag.  The small round circle acts as a hole punch and then the larger circle is the reinforcer to be placed over the “punched” hole.  You can easily create handles on the tote using the half oval die.  Also included is a bow die, just as a fun detail.

Here’s my sweet birthday tote using the TAGGED TOTE Confetti Cuts die set and IN A BIG WAY stamp set…

The scalloped edge panel was cut using the DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER Confetti Cuts die (previously released).  The stars are cut from the OH MY STARS Confetti Cuts die set (previously released).

. . . . .

As promised yesterday, I have a photo tutorial on how to assemble the two totes that are being released September 8th.  For the tutorial, I have used the TAGGED TOTE, but note that assembly is the same for both totes.

Step 1: Cut 2 of the totes and one of the base of the tote.  I have trimmed the 2 smaller tabs off of one of the totes.

Step1

Step 2: (Optional) You can create handles on your tote by using the half oval die.

Step2

Step3

Step 3: Adhere the two totes together.

Step4

Step 4: Add the bottom of the tote to the small tab in the center.

Step5

Step 5: Assemble into tote, adhering the 2 other side flaps.

Step 6: Fold the bottom in and adhere tabs to it.

Step6

Now your tote is assembled and ready to be embellished.

Step7

Step8

Here’s mine all done up with the “Thanks” sentiment from the new IN A BIG WAY stamp set…

Notice something else that might be new?  Yep, there’s the other PRETTY PANELS Confetti Cuts die AND the brown panel is the new GIVE THANKS LABEL (more on this one tomorrow!).

CONFETTI CAMERA

By admin
on August 07, 2014

Hello, Hello ‘Fetti Fans!

We have a super fun Confetti Camera here for you today!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations. For this round, you’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration from a fun tip or technique from each of our designers. A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions/show a tip until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member (then it’s a new round with new questions/theme). To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

3) For this round we are focusing on ABC (anything but a card) projects.  Keep your eyes peeled for some fabulous ways to use your Reverse Confetti stamps!

Today on Confetti Camera we have a great video tutorial put together by the fun and talented, SARAH GOUGH

SarahIntroPic

Today I’m sharing a sweet little basket made from the Tag Me Too Confetti Cuts as well as the Double Edge Scallop Border. Here’s a little tutorial on putting these together and getting even more use out of your fabulous Reverse Confetti dies!

The response to the FABULOUS FLAMINGO set has been…well, FABULOUS! We just received a large order of the stamps over the weekend and they are almost sold out.  The coordinating Confetti Cuts sets are sold out.  Both are on order and I will update the Facebook page and send a newsletter when our stock has been replenished again.  Thank you all for your support and patience!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on August 06, 2014

Hello and Happy Hump Day!

It’s Wednesday and time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

Today, I’m focusing on another fun and different way to use your Reverse Confetti Confetti Cuts dies…as stencils!

So, I think that I have said it before, but I will say it again…I am not a technique person.  The thought of the mess and the time and the mess is enough to send me over the edge.  I mentioned the mess, right?  So, when we got to chatting about embossing paste over this past weekend, you would think that I would check out of the conversation.  Nope.  I was actually intrigued.  I’ve seen lots of samples and loved them, so when we got to talking about how easy it was…and not all that messy…I thought that this was something that I could get into.  So, off I went and purchased a couple different embossing pastes.

paste

I got some stencils, too, but I decided to make my own for today’s project.   Yes…make my own.  Easy peasy.  I cut out the CHEVRON PRETTY PANELS Confetti Cuts die from heavyweight vellum.  Then, I placed it on a piece of pattern paper and taped it down with washi tape.

stencil

I applied the embossing paste and went down to fix dinner and came back up and viola…

(this pic shows it cut out using the CLASS ACT Confetti Cuts die)

SWAKdetail

Ok. so it is not perfect, but not bad for the first time trying a technique.  I decided to use it as a panel on a card…

SWAK2

The heart (in felt) and scalloped rectangle are from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set.  The tab cut from kraft cardstock is from the CLASS ACT Confetti Cuts die set and is stamped with a sentiment from CRUSHIN’.  The flag ended panels under the heart are cut from heavyweight vellum using the TAG ME Confetti Cuts die.

Detail shot…

SWAK1

I wouldn’t consider myself a technique person just yet, but I will admit that I really did enjoy this, especially since it was easy to use with a homemade Reverse Confetti stencil.

Hey ‘Fetti Fans!

I am ready for this weekend to begin…are you?  This weekend a few girls from the Confetti Crew are making their way down to Houston for CKC!  Reverse Confetti will be doing Make ‘n Takes at The Little Blue House booth #500.  If you are planning to be at the event, be sure to stop by and give us a big hug!

It’s Thursday and time for another great CONFETTI CAMERA!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations. Today on Confetti Camera we have a great home decor project from the super sweet and ever so talented, LISA HENKE

LisaHIntroPic

((Please note: Lisa’s project uses the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set which will be back in stock early next week.))

I always get excited to share on the Reverse Confetti Blog. Today I’m showing you how easy it is to use the great stamps and Confetti Cut dies to make a burlap frame for your home. Yep, I said home decor….don’t freak. It’s just like working on a card, but on a little larger space. To me, that means you get to add some extra little pretties to fill in the spaces.

LHCC- 1

I started by covering a 6×6 canvas frame with burlap. It’s a NO sew project, just use a strong adhesive, like Scor-Tape to secure the burlap to the back of the frame.

LHCC-2

I start with a focal point. Today, I used the FABULOUS FLAMINGO stamp set for my inspiration. I just love the beautiful sentiments included in the set. I then began layering. I pulled out TAG ME, TOO, CIRCLES ‘ N SCALLOPS and the banner piece from TAG ME. I cut all my pieces, stamped the sentiment, and decided to add some black accent to the banner piece. The trendy diagonal stripe from SO STRIPEY was perfect for the job.

Once I had my focal point complete, I moved outward from there adding bits and pieces of handmade embellies. It’s easy when you have such pretty Confetti Cut dies to work with. I die cut plenty of flowers with PETALS ‘N POSIES and two FABULOUS FLAMINGOS. I like to use papers from within the same paper pad, that way I know they will look great together.

LHCC-3

After I have all my pieces cut and stamped, I layered them up and place them on my frame where I think I want them. I take a step back and make sure I have a good balance of embellies. Then I adhere the pieces down and added the sequins. The last step was to add the ribbon to hang the frame.

LHCC-4

Home Decor items, don’t need to be hard. Stick to what you know and create something beautiful.

For my card, I broke out my Dylusions inks to create a fun spattered background!

 WW1a

First step was to emboss the arrows from ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS in black embossing powder on some watercolor paper. (I used Tim Holtz’s watercolor paper because it’s bright white and amazing with the Dylusions inks).

After heat setting the black embossed arrows, it’s time to spritz and splash some ink! I do this really quickly and with total randomness. Just take the cap off the ink and start flicking the ink. Get big splotches and small splotches. Blot with paper towel and flick more ink! Just keep repeating the process until you get the background you’re looking for. I used a couple different colors, but you could use just one or ten colors!

Once I had my background, I stamped the sentiment from INNER ROCK STAR. I stamped it once in black, and again in green ink. I cut the banner in the middle of the sentiment out and popped it up on dimensionals. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from CELEBRATE CAKE.
