What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

As noted last week, a few of the Confetti Crew design team members will be guest blogging here.  Today, we welcome Lisa Henke to the Wednesday in the Works post.

Trends. They are a fun way to add some extra pizazz to your stamps and supplies. Especially simple, sentiments. I used three trends on my card today along with  the LOTS TO SAY stamp set.  I used two of the sentiments to create this custom thank you note.

rc-wed works thanks-2

I love that stencils and modeling paste (or embossing paste) are trending right now. I pulled out a dotty stencil to make a custom backdrop for my sentiment.

You’ll want to make sure to secure your stencil over top of your card stock and before swiping some Modeling Paste (you can find it in any craft or art store). I used an old credit card or gift card to apply my paste, an off-set spatula works great, too. For an extra bit of depth and interest, I did move my stencil just a little bit when I applied the paste to create the ghosting effect. Set this panel aside to dry.

I also love the angled panels I’ve been seeing on lots of cards across blog land. It adds great visual interest to any card. Cut a rectangle panel, angle it off the side and bottom (or top, depending on where you want the angle to be) of your card base and then use your trimmer to snip off the overhang.

rc-wed works thanks detail

The final trend so hot right now are sequins. They are just the sweetest little embellishments and with all the different color choices your options are endless. I used the Rule of Three on my card and added a trio of sequin clusters across  my card front.

I used the sentiment flag from TAG ME Confetti Cuts to pop up the ” just a note” stamp. Keeping the sentiment simple, really allows the trendy items to shine!

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you feel inspired to try one or all of these paper crafting trends.

Howdy, ‘Fetti Fans!

This post is chock full of exciting news. This first bit is personal to me and my family…we are moving! EEK! For those of you that have followed me for a little while and are thinking, “Didn’t you just move?” you are right. This will be our second move within 2 years…double EEK! I’ve moved enough throughout my adult life and feel like a pro. But, even with that pro status it’s a bit stressful. The plan is to keep life and business as normal as possible. I’ll keep you posted as all the fun events of the weeks and months to come unfold.

. . . . .

Next up in the exciting news of the day…the winner of the January Color Challenge.

First, THANK YOU to everyone that played along. There were so many A-MAAAAAA-ZING entries and it was so hard to pick just one. But, alas, there could be just one winner…

Here’s Kim’s card using BE A BARISTA, which will be back in stock tonight…

Kim, please email me at info@reverseconfetti.com to claim your prize!

. . . . .

Now, it’s time for our “regularly scheduled programming” with today’s CONFETTI CAMERA!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations. For this round, you’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration from a fun tip or technique from each of our designers. A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions/show a tip until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member (then it’s a new round with new questions/theme). To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

. . . . .

Today the spotlight is on Confetti Crew member and my CHA roomie, STACEY SCHAFER

Here’s Stacey’s fun, fresh and on trend project using the PAPER CRANE stamp set and ARROW, DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER and LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts…

Hey there, ‘Fetti Fans! I’m thrilled to be on the Confetti Camera today to share a couple of technique tips! There are two techniques, in particular, that I want to show you today…stenciling with embossing paste AND loopy twine!

Here is a photo of the supplies that I gathered for my project.

Paper Crane

Love Note

Double Edge Scallop Border

Burlap Canvas, Stencil, Embossing Paste, Twine, Paper, Ink, Adhesive

Embossing paste can be applied to a variety of surfaces. Here I spread the paste over the stencil onto the canvas using a piece of folded card stock. For more texture, like this, apply liberally (almost a little clumpy) instead of smoothing it out.

Gently lift the stencil and allow a few minutes to dry.

I am asked a lot about my twine loops. There is no secret to the looping other than the twine that you choose. My favorite twine is Hemptique 10 lb. Hemp Cord…it’s durable and holds it shape better than baker’s twine.

Here, I have wrapped the twine around the canvas and secured with a knot, leaving long tails.

Next, I wrap an extra piece of twine around my fingers and tie it into place with the already wrapped twine…for a “lasso” looking effect.

Here’s a closeup photo of my finished canvas that’s been Reverse Confetti-fyed!

Thanks so much for stopping by Reverse Confetti today! I hope you’re inspired to try some new techniques!

Hello ‘Fetti Fans and TGIF!

What a week it has been…chock full of creativity and inspiration from our sneak peeks and new release hop!  It’s been amazing, to say the least!

. . . . .

As a reminder, our offices will be closed on Monday. Normal office hours and shipping will resume on Tuesday.

All orders placed by 5pm CST today will ship before I head out to sunny California for some fun, friends and CHA.

. . . . .

It’s Friday and it’s time for WEEK IN REVERSE.  This WIR post is going to be a re-cap of some of my favorite projects from our Confetti Crew, Challenge Crew and our January/February ‘Fetti Friend.  Let’s get this party started!

Does it get any cuter than this? Daniela created the most A-DOR-ABLE decor piece with FREIDA FOX from our  *new* Quirky Cuties line.  The overlapping embossed hearts in the background are from the new WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS set and she is holding the XOXO banner from the set, CRUSHIN’

Amy Sheffer also created an A-MA-ZING decor piece using the new set, PAPER CRANE

Do you love making little gifties?  We do, too!

Here, Sarah used the new WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS and SWEET THING  sets, along with the TAG ME and (new) LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set to create this super sweet gift set…

Susan created a fun treat using the SWEET TREAT TENT Confetti Cuts die paired with the new SWEET THING stamp set and (previously released) TAG ME Confetti Cuts banner…

Val’s gift card holder using a combination of the new LOVE NOTE, ARROW and (previously released) TAG ME Confetti Cuts with the sets CRUSHIN’, SWEET THING, WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS and SO STRIPEY is just too cute…

Amy has clever use of the SWEET TREAT TENT Confetti Cuts die as a lollipop holder. She added a TAG ME Confetti Cuts tag and banner, along with the new ARROW Confetti Cuts.   She also used the new stamp sets WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS and SWEET THING. Super fun and easy kiddo Valentines!

Need a quick and easy addition to a gift sack?  Leigh’s tags using TAG ME and the new SWEET THING stamp set are just perfect!

Need a love note…or two, or three?  Check out Lisa’s sweet notes to her guys using the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts set paired with the new CRUSHIN’ stamp set…

Great minds think alike!

Here ‘Fetti Friend, Wida, created a spinner card using SWEET THING and WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS

RC Guest Sweet

Heather used the same concept here with PAPER CRANE

Looks like Heather also had a brain share with Laurie Willison. I love these sweet and simple designs they came up with!

Here’s Heather’s card using WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS and SWEET THING along with the TAG ME Confetti Cuts…

And, here’s Laurie’s darling card using SWEET THING and TAG ME Confetti Cuts, too (love this color palette)…

Do you love the new ARROW Confetti Cuts die?  We do, too!  Check out how the Confetti Crew played with it and metallic papers.

Stacey’s layers are just awesome, but that ARROW Confetti Cuts die takes center stage!  This card also uses the stamp set CRUSHIN’, as well as the new LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die…

Amber’s on trend gold arrow is the perfect embellishment to this card using the new CRUSHIN’ stamp set…

Savannah’s ARROW is red hot!  She also paired it with the new CRUSHIN’ stamp set…

Want to see how Savannah put this card together start to finish?  Check out her video…

Last, but most certainly not least, I leave you today with Laurie’s oh-so-colorful card, filled with lots of detail using the new WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS and CRUSHIN’ sets, as well as the ARROW Confetti Cuts…

There, I said it. Again.

If you have followed me for any amount of time, you know this.  I love decorating, making gifties and having Halloween shin-digs for the kiddos.  If I can create it for Halloween, I will!  So, when it came time to create Halloween sets for Reverse Confetti I was beyond excited…and a little overwhelmed because it was HARD to narrow down what actually went into these sets. When all was said and done, I was over the moon with what we came up with…two coordinating Halloween sets!

Today, we are introducing these sets: SPOOKY CUTIES and SPOOKY SENTIMENTS.  These two sets are designed for (at the risk of sounding like a car commercial) optimal versatility.  What exactly do I mean by that?

1.  These sets are designed so that they will easily work together or on their own

2. You will notice that the sentiments in the Spooky Sentiments set basically come in 2 general sizes: long and shorter/taller. These are all made to WORK TOGETHER like subway art, but instead of having just one stamp with all the words, you are able to create subway art or use the stamps individually, or pair them any way you want.  The short diagonal lines can separate the sentiments or be used as an embellishment/element on your projects.

3. The images in Spooky Cuties are sized to work with the Spooky Sentiments when building subway art or just using them together on a cute tag, card or scrapbook page.

So, without any further adieu, let me introduce you to SPOOKY CUTIES and SPOOKY SENTIMENTS

Both of my projects today use a combination of the two sets, as I love how they work together.

For my first project, I used two trends: chalkboard and subway art to create this shadowbox that I can’t wait to display in my entry…

It was just impossible to get a picture without some glare.  Here are a few detail shots of this project outside of the shadowbox…

My second project is a little treat bag/box that I created from kraft cardstock that I repeatedly stamped with the polka dot bat.  I then added a embossed flap with a layered focal panel containing a doily, circle punches, a glittery bat and the sentiment “Batty For You”…

Detail shot…

Love the sparkly black bat?  Here’s a little trick you can use when glittery die cuts, etc.  To make the bat even more sparkly, I applied black Stickles all over the bat and then sprinkled on the glitter.  It’s just a little added sparkle that goes a long way.  I use this same “trick” when creating “snow” on my holiday/winter projects (with white/clear Stickles and glitters, of course).

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on PEACOCKS, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

The peacock trend is HOT throughout the wedding, accessory and home decor industry. I was at Barnes & Noble recently admiring this Nook tablet cover…

The trend has trickled into paper crafting lately, with pattern paper in the peacock palette, as well as peacock feather pattern paper…and, of course, PEACOCK PRETTIES.  Needless to say, I love the trend.  The feathers, the shapes and the colors all speak to me.

With that Nook cover in mind, I created this card using PEACOCK PRETTIES. I went in a *slightly* different direction when it came to choosing the palette.  Me and purple don’t always get along…in paper crafting, at least!  I embossed the feather in gold and then added some gold sequins to give the card a bit of bling…

Detail shot of the watermarked panel, feather and sentiment…

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

I’m definitely happy that it’s not Monday anymore!  We made it through the first day of school and tae kwon do…along with a dead car battery (realized as I was hurrying to get to school for pick up).  While hubby was fixing the car battery, I dropped a full and open Diet Dr. Pepper on the last step of our staircase, sending soda flying everywhere in the foyer.  Needless to say, everyone (especially me) was ready for bed quite early last night.  I sure am hoping for a little creative escape today…I certainly need it!  Is stamping therapeutic for you, too?  It seems that all my stresses are able to melt away momentarily while I am creating.

. . . . .

It’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAYHAPPY HARBOR was still sitting on my desk from the card I made for last week’s Wednesday in the Works.  I’m a huge fan of the nautical theme/trend and I love inking up this set!

In addition to the HAPPY HARBOR set, I also brought in the stripe rectangle and coordinating pennant from ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS (now back in stock!).  The “you’re swell” sentiment fits perfectly in the rectangle.

The rest of the card is all about mixing and matching this and that and bringing together colors that I thought looked good together.  If someone told me that aqua, yellow, red, light and dark gray and kraft would be a good color palette to work with for a nautical themed card, I may had said that they were nuts.  I really didn’t plan on these colors, but someway, somehow they ended up in an array on my desk and I went with it.  A happy accident, I suppose, because I really do like how these colors look together.  The picture is showing the dark gray more as a navy, which gives me more ideas and options for using this palette in the future.

. . . . .

Stamps: Happy Harbor, Arrows ‘n Elements

Red, Dark Gray Dye Ink

Hello and TGIF!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!  I’ve seen a lot of kiddos’ first day of school pics on Facebook and we are gearing up for ours next week.  Supplies-check, first day of school outfit-check, to bed early-check.  I have to admit that I have be looking forward to school being back in session, but now that it is upon us I want a few more weeks of fun, sun and a little bit of doing nuthin’.  I’m sure that warm and fuzzy feeling will wear off the next time I hear, “Moooooooommmmmm, can I/will you? or he/she’s doing this, that or the other…”  Anyone else know this feeling?  Certainly, I am not alone here.

. . . . .

A couple of notes before I get started on WEEK IN REVERSE:

2. Don’t forget to upload your Reverse Confetti creations to the weekly link list for a chance to win the ENTIRE NEXT RELEASE.  Find it Fast link on the sidebar.

. . . . .

This week, the Confetti Crew pulled out all the stops on their Reverse Confetti creations!

I love Heather‘s fun design and how she mixed and matched these sets!

Savannah‘s sunshine-y card makes me smile! And, WOW!, she has perfected masking! The word sunshine was created by masking 3 words (sunny days, shopping and chocolate) together.

Susan‘s card is super sunny and happy, too!

Val‘s card, inspired by a pillow, is so trendy and cute…

Amy S. created two gorgeous (as always) cards.

Dawn‘s card is so spar-ka-lay!  Those multi-colored circles are perfect for this sentiment, too!

The girly rock style on this card by Dawn is super cute!

Laurie’s style never ceases to make my jaw drop.  Her take on scrappy style mixed with Reverse Confetti stamps is pure perfection!
