Hello, ‘Fetti Fans and Happy Wednesday!

It’s Wednesday and time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS exactly?…

It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  It’s us taking a closer look at how something is created, etc.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between. Today, Confetti Crew member, Amy Sheffer, shares a fun technique!

Hi ‘Fetti Fans, it’s Amy here today, working with one of my favorite materials — felt. I’ve used the Layered Snowflake die set to create a dimensional ornament perfect for hanging on the tree or using as package toppers.

Tutorial:

  1. Onto the large felt snowflake base, layer one white snowflake, then one aqua snowflake, one white, and one aqua.

  1. Machine stitch through all layers along the center of the snowflakes.

  1. Press the seams to give the snowflake dimension.

  1. Optional. I took a third white medium snowflake, cut it in half and adhered each half with fabric glue to the gray backer piece. (That extra felt layer made the stack too thick to stitch easily, so this was my solution.)

  1. Adhere sequins with fabric glue.

  1. Adhere felt snowflake to a large card stock snowflake for stability. Sew a dangling bead to the bottom (or hang with a jump ring)

  1. Add a hanging loop to the top and embellish the snowflake with buttons.

  1. I plan to make these to use as package toppers, so I’ve stamped the “to/from” from With Love to a second card stock snowflake base, heat embossed in white, and adhered to the back of the ornament.

Here’s how it looks in action on a tree:
