WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on October 04, 2013

WOW…Friday, already!?  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, but this week seemed to zooooom by!

I know that part of my weekend will be spent cheering for my alma mater, Arizona State University, who will be duking it out (here in Dallas) with Notre Dame.  Do I have tickets?…no (sniffle), but I’ll be cheering them on from the comforts of my living room sofa.  I’m hoping to get some crafty time in, too!

. . . . .

It’s time to take a peek back at what the Confetti Crew has created this week in our WEEK IN REVERSE.

Heather is just one of the designers that decided to use her Reverse Confetti stamps on a scrapbook page this week!  I just adore how this layout (the October SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY) and sentiment, along with the graphic background compliment the picture of her beautiful daughter with her face painted!

PEACOCK PRETTIES, I LIKE YOU

Val also did a scrapbook page.  I love all the elements and how she flipped the SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY to create this page featuring her son playing water polo.

ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS, LIGHTHEARTED LETTERS, COUNT YOUR RAINBOWS

This might just be one of my favorite cards from Amy Kolling!  I love all the colors and details and how stacked up all the images, dots and large sentiment.

SPOOKY CUTIES, SPOOKY SENTIMENTS, WHOLE LOTTA DOTS

Amy also used the latest SFYTT on this card that is just so sweet!  It’s the perfect card to give to a loved one!

Susan had a mind-share with Amy and came up with this fun card that also features 1-2-3.  Now, they’ve got me thinking I need to make one that says ABC!

Amy Sheffer sure knows how to WOW with her cards and this one is no exception!  I love how the simple white sentiment panel stands out against all the fun details.

Savannah knows how to put together some sweet treats!  If you missed the Confetti Camera post from yesterday, be sure you check it out!  I love her candy bag adorned with witch shoes here.

Laurie’s bright and cheerful card put a huge smile on my face!  Love the use of the buttons as the rainbow and her sparkly and colorful “COUNT.”

Lisa’s non-traditional rainbow colors are oh-so-fun paired with this sentiment.

Lisa also made this spooky and sweet card featuring this month’s SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.  The cauldron bubbles stamped repeatedly on the pattern behind the witch shoes is just one of the many awesome details on this card.

CONFETTI CAMERA

By admin
on October 03, 2013

Howdy, Friends!

We’re glad that you are joining us for this week’s Confetti Camera!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations.  You’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration, as well as get to know each designer a little better through some interview questions that we have prepared.  A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member.

. . . . .

Don’t forget, we have a new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY and our weekly link list is open.

Let’s see your take on the sketch and all those Reverse Confetti projects!

. . . .

This week the Confetti Camera is zooming in on Confetti Crew member SAVANNAH O’GWYNN

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

I love that this tag is so SIMPLE and versatile! You could use just about any themed stamp set for this card (i.e. Christmas, birthday, etc.). I also love that we can put our information on the back for our new neighbors- perfect little tag for them to keep!

What was your process for making this project? Starting point?

I knew I wanted to make something simple for my Halloween treats. When I looked at the RC Spooky Cuties and Spooky Sentiment sets, I knew that I had to use those witch’s shoes and sentiments for my little tag!

What inspiration can others take from this project?

Like I mentioned earlier- this tag is so versatile! I def. think I’ll be making more of these tags for Christmas and birthdays!

. . . . .

Describe/Share your stamping space.

I have adopted Jennifer McGuire’s way of storing my stamps– I use some fridge bins along with clear plastic sleeves to hold all of my stamps and dies.

Let’s take a tour…

And, in pictures…

Studio1

Studio3

Studio4

Studio5

Do you have a clean desk/space before starting a project?

I usually do– however, in my video and pictures it doesn’t look like it! I am a HUGE clean freak!

What is your must have tool?

I absolutely loooooooove my CutterBee scissors! I use them 100% of the time! I usually fussy cut on every card I create, and these scissors are perfect for little details and fussy cutting!

Do you always make A2 sized cards? What’s your fav size to make?

I tend to start with an A2 sized card, but I always cut it down to whatever looks right! Most of my cards are between 3 1/2″ x 5″…. and sometimes I make square cards… and sometimes I even make a taller card (like 3 1/2″ x 7″)!

What is your favorite RC project so far… and why?

I love all of my creations….but I absolutely loooooooooove my fringe card, Thanks card, and any card using the chevrons from the Arrows ‘n Elements stamp set! I LOOOOVE that fringe card because it has an awesome color story and texture! I love that Thanks card because I cut apart the stamps to create this custom sentiment. And I love those chevrons! I LOVE adding them on the side of pictures and journaling cards, as well as using them as the background!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on October 02, 2013

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  And, just because I couldn’t resist popping this on here one time…

(I giggle way too much at this commercial)

. . . . .

It’s time for…

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on MAKING A SKETCH YOUR OWN, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

Yesterday, the new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY was posted.  I really love this sketch because there is just so much you can do with it and I am going to go over, in detail, a couple cards that I did using this sketch so that you can see just some of the different ways you can take (any) sketch and make it your own.

Here’s the sketch once more, along with my sample card from the original post (for comparison purposes)…

SFYTT5_2  SFYTTcard

As you can see, my original card has a lot going on!  Each panel has multiple layers and textures. In detail, some of the ways that I made this sketch my own for the card above include:

  • I added a base panel.  A lot of times this is not shown in a sketch, but I always like to keep it as an option.  Here the base panel is the black and white print pattern paper that is distressed, sewn and matted with olive cardstock.
  • The center/rectangular panel is tilted.  Don’t be afraid to angle your panels or use different shapes.  This often times adds interest and detail.  This panel is embossed, distressed, sewn and matted as well.
  • For the long, thin rectangular panel I used 3 flag-ended strips, all in different colors and patterns.
  • I did stick with the 3 circles on the right side, but I layered them with the 3 dimensional sparkly spiders for a spooky pop of interest.  If a sketch that has detail like these circles on one side, feel free to flip them to the other side if you can’t get it to work with your image and/or sentiment.  You can also flip the entire sketch to get a completely different look!

Speaking of different looks, take a gander at this card that also uses the October Sketch For You To Try

SFYTT2

Can you believe that it’s the same sketch?  I know it’s quite a contrast from my original card, but I promise it is the same sketch used.  Here are some details on how I made the sketch my own on this card…

  • In contrast to my other card, I did not use a base layer here.  I almost always start with a white cardstock base and I kept it clean (and simple) on this card.
  • The center/rectangular panel is not tilted, but is popped up on dimensional adhesive.  I created it as shown on the sketch, except for added the pop of green on the right side.
  • The long rectangular panel is represented by the gray and orange strips (stamped with sentiment from SPOOKY SENTIMENTS), as well as the popped up stripe flag ended panel (stamped from ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS) with the “JUST SAYIN'” sentiment (also from ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS).
  • I did not use circles this time, instead I reached for the polka dot chevron and used it in triplicate on the right side of this card.  These polka dot chevrons (from ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS) pair nicely with the polka dot bat (from SPOOKY CUTIES) that I used as an embellishment.
  • In addition to used the bat as an embellishment, I also added three green sequins that are adorned with enamel dots.

. . . . .

Needless to say, there are countless ways that you can make a sketch your own.  So, if you’ve always wanted to dive into a sketch…go for it!  Come play along with our SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY for a chance to win lots of stamps (details HERE)!

OCTOBER SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY

By admin
on October 01, 2013

Happy October, ‘Fetti Fans!

Oh my goodness, where has time gone.  I swear it was just yesterday that I was prepping for our first release (in May).  I blinked and it’s almost 5 months later.  I guess it’s true…time flies when you’re having fun!

. . . . .

Today it’s kind of a two-fer post…TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY + SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.

First, the OCTOBER SFYTT

SFYTT5_2

There are so many ways to make this sketch your own!  For this card, I used lots of layers and textures…and some creepy sparkly spiders to dress it up a bit along with the SPOOKY SENTIMENTS and ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS sets

SFYTTcard

For the 3 circles on the right side of the panel, I chose to go with burlap for something a little different and I love the contrast against the sparkly spiders (which scared the heck out of my kids!)…

SFYTTcard_detail

In addition to the 3 dimensional spiders and burlap, I also added texture and dimension by distressing the edges of my papers, sewing (I am now convinced my sewing machine has a personal vendetta against me after this experience) and embossing.  I even sanded down my embossed circles.

In addition to the sanded circles, you can also see the VersaMark stamped arrows from the ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS set on the the purple panel.  It’s subtle detail that I absolutely love.

SFYTTcard_detail2

The SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY details you need to know…

  • There will be a new sketch posted on the Reverse Confetti blog on the 1st of each month.
  • The sketch link list will be open from the 1st until noon CST on the 14th. The sketch will be posted in the sidebar and you will be able to click on it to get to that month’s SFYTT post with the link list during this time.
  • We originally stated that you must play with Reverse Confetti stamps to win; however, we are allowing “anything goes” until the end of the year. Note, that we will be adding this requirement in January.
  • You may enter as many times as you wish.
  • There will be a winner each month and that person will receive ALL OF THE STAMP SETS for the next release and be invited to share their creations during our sneak peeks and hop!  The winner of SFYTT will be posted on the Reverse Confetti blog on the 15th of each month.

Hello ‘Fetti Fans and Happy Monday!

Here at Reverse Confetti, we are getting into the groove of fall and prepping for beyond that.  It’s a little weird to be designing stamps for our January release while the sun is shining and either Rangers baseball or Sooner football is playing on the t.v. in background.  We have lots of original designs, as well as a new illustrator that we will be introducing to you soon.  I hope you’re excited as I am!

. . . . .

And, speaking of excited…it’s a thrill to announce the SEPTEMBER ‘FETTI FAVE!

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

My favorite thing about this card is the unexpected color scheme.  More often than not, cards/projects centered around a pumpkin theme are going to include colors that tend to have more of a fall vibe.  I like the pop of pink and green on navy!

What was your process on making this project? Did you have a starting point (color, inspiration, sketch)?

The only thing I had my heart set on when creating this card was the sentiment.  I love the “hello pumpkin” sentiment from the Forever Fall stamp set! The font is super cute, and I’m a sucker for the coordinating pumpkin.  I wanted the sentiment and pumpkin image to take center stage, so I opted for a very CAS design.

What inspiration can others take from this project?

This is a toughie! I would have to say if anything, don’t be afraid to step outside the box and try new color combos.  You never know, you might just be (pleasantly) surprised!

. . . . .

Describe/Share your stamping space.

HP Space

My craft room wears a lot of hats, it also functions as our office, extra storage and general catch-all.  We moved into our house 7 1/2 years ago, and always had the intention of doing something fun with the space.  Unfortunately, that has yet to happen! Invariably, something always comes up that needs our attention (like our surprise bathroom remodel), so that room has been a little neglected.  It’s the only room in our house that has yet to even be painted! Lol… So rather than blind everyone with the crazy amount of clutter and old white walls, I’m sharing a pic of my itty bitty stamping area. (Ha!)

Do you have to clean your desk before starting a new project?

I do normally try to put things away between projects.  With such a tiny amount of space, I can’t afford to give up any more real estate!

What is your must-have tool? Why do you like it so much?

Hmm… I think my favorite tool would probably have to be my heat gun.  I have been on a huge heat embossing kick lately, so a fully functioning heat gun is a must.

Do you always make A2 sized cards? If you deviate from the standard size, what favorite size to make?

No, not always. I also like to make 3 1/2 x 5 cards (today’s card), as well as 4 x 4 cards.  It helps break up the monotony.

What is your favorite RC project so far? Why?

My favorite so far would probably have to be this card:

Heather

It just makes me happy!

This card features PEACOCK PRETTIES, DREAM IN COLOR and WHOLE LOTTA DOTS

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on September 25, 2013

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

This week is zooooming by!  I’m looking forward to a day in the studio working on some future projects…and stamp sets!  I can hardly contain my enthusiasm and excitement!  First, it’s time for…

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on REVERSE CONFETTI KEY WORDS STAMPS, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

When it comes to stamping (and most things in life), I love VERSATILITY!  The KEY WORDS COLLECTION from Reverse Confetti offers just that…and more!  In our KEY WORDS sets, you will find a “key word” (or two) to mix and match with the other stamps in the set to create a wide variety of sentiments.  Our KEY WORDS sets also contain quotes and/or images that also focus on the given key word(s).

Our latest KEY WORDS COLLECTION release is COUNT YOUR RAINBOWS and features the word “COUNT” as the word that can be mixed and matched.  It’s the perfect set for the upcoming Thanksgiving season, as well as other everyday cards and projects.  For today’s card, I created a clean and simple (CAS) thank you card (I never seem to have enough thank you cards on hand)…

Count_thanks

I combined this sentiment with a Silhouette die cut flower and leaves that I stamped with the small polka dots from the WHOLE LOTTA DOTS set.  The edges of the white panel are distressed to give added texture, without adding more layers, etc. to the overall CAS design.

Count_detail

I repeated the polka dot green of the leaves with a thin strip on the inside of the card.

Count_inside

As with all of the KEY COLLECTION sets, COUNT YOUR RAINBOWS offers a wide variety of sentiments you can create and use.  You can see all of our KEY WORDS COLLECTION *HERE*..

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY & WINNER

Ruth, please email info@reverseconfetti.com

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that hopped along with us over the weekend!

. . . . .

It’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!

I love being able to mix and match my stamps, so the other day I was brainstorming  which (previously released) sets I could match up with the Halloween sets.  ** LIGHT BULB** when my eyes hit I LIKE YOU.  Since I can’t stop saying how much I love Halloween, I figured I might as well make a card that says it, too.  You can pretty much bank on a Christmas version of this in the coming months (don’t say I didn’t warn you).

I LIKE YOU, along with SPOOKY CUTIES and SPOOKY SENTIMENTS

ILikeYou

This card definitely has a lot of layers and depth.  Here’s a detail shot of the main image panel, which has a die cut circle base, a pinked circle and another circle layered on top.  By matting the pinked circle it is set off and catches the eye a little more than if it had not been.  From this angle, you can also see I popped up the pumpkin and the bat (both from SPOOKY CUTIES), as well as the “&” punched circle (from I LIKE YOU).  Did you know that a 3/4″ circle punch works perfectly for popping out/up the “&” circle?

ILikeYou_closeup2

I bet you didn’t expect to see aqua on a Halloween card!  I love how it pairs with the orange, black, purple and green!  I added aqua/teal colored sequins to tie into the aqua cardstock panel and to give the card a little bit of sparkly flair.
