NEW CONFETTI CREW INTRODUCTIONS

By admin
on October 31, 2013

I am just bursting at the seams…and it’s not because of all the Trunk-or-Treat Halloween candy I’ve politely relieved my children of already.  I’m bursting at the seams with excitement as today has finally arrived.  Ok, you know I LOVE HALLOWEEN, but that’s not why I am so thrilled (ok, maybe a little, but not for the sake of this blog post).  I am so very excited because today I get to announce our new Confetti Crew team members!

As I had mentioned before, we have decided to “kick it up a notch” here at Reverse Confetti.  While we concluded the ‘Fetti Finds/weekly link list, we also announced the addition of a color challenge that will be introduced in just a couple of weeks.  Now that we have both the SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY and COLOR CHALLENGE happening each month, we decided to bring on a couple of new team members to be dedicated to these challenges, as well as the hops.  You’ll be seeing their creations tomorrow when we introduce the November SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.

So, without further adieu, let me introduce to you THE CHALLENGE CREW

(names and pictures linked to their respective blogs)

DANIELA DOBSON

DanielaIntroPic

My name is Daniela Dobson and I live in Dallas, TX. I am married to Peter and we have a little boy, Alex, who is 5 years old. I have been scrapbooking and stamping for over 10 years. I really enjoy challenges and strive to be innovative. I love recording every day moments, especially now, with my son. I like using a variety of products and techniques to create lasting memories. I have always kept a record of my life through journaling and photos, and scrapbooking allows me to combine those two. I don’t want to forget the important and not so important moments. When I am not scrapbooking I enjoy cooking, running, reading and watching TV.

LAURIE WILLISON

LaurieWIntroPic

Hi!  My name is Laurie Willison.  I am a part time SAHM and part time RN.  I have 2 kiddos at home and an amazing husband who puts up with my hobby!  I started scrapbooking in 1997 and was taken over by card making in 2007!  I absolutely love this hobby!  It has given me such an amazing creative outlet.  The most amazing part of this whole thing are the friendships that I have made!  Crafty friends are truly the best!  I love Reverse Confetti and all the gorgeous fonts and sentiments they have available and am looking forward to being on the challenge team with these amazing ladies.  You can find me over at my blog, Soapbox Creations!

And last, but not least, on the CHALLENGE CREW, is

LAURIE SCHMIDLIN

LaurieIntroPic2

Are you scratching your head and asking, “Isn’t she on the CONFETTI CREW already?”  Yes, she is.  However, she is a new mommy (again) and has is taken a role on this team until the diaper cream settles.  You can read more about Laurie from her original introduction HERE.

Please note that the CHALLENGE CREW is a rotating team, so you will see new faces here from time to time.  Of course, we’ll always be keeping an eye out for those Reverse Confetti stamping rock stars to be part of this team.

. . . . .

In addition to the CHALLENGE CREW, I also am giddy about announcing a couple of newbies to the CONFETTI CREW.

Please join me in welcoming…

LEIGH PENNER

LeighIntroPic

My name is Leigh Penner and I live in Southern Manitoba, Canada, with my husband of 17.5 years, Cameron and our three children: Austin (14), Jonah (11) & Sage (9). I work as a substitute teacher for our city’s school division. I started scrapbooking 10.5 years ago and discovered stamping almost three years ago. I love making layouts and cards! When I’m not stamping, I like to go for bike rides, read, play board games & do tae kwon do with my kids (I have my second degree black belt.)  I’m super excited to be joining the Confetti Crew & look forward to designing for RC!

STACEY SCHAFER

StaceyIntroPic

How exciting to be part of the Reverse Confetti Crew!  Last spring, when I read that Jen del Muro was launching her own clear stamp company, I knew it would be fabulous!  I’ll never forget inking up my first Reverse Confetti stamp set, Peacock Pretties…needless to say, I’ve been an RC fan ever since!  Reverse Confetti designs are bold and graphical, trendy and fun…and I’m thrilled to be able to work alongside Jen and an ALL-STAR design team to share projects with our ‘Fetti Fans!

See you tomorrow with the new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY and don’t forget…

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on October 29, 2013

Hello ‘Fetti Fans and Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone has started their week off right!  I was just dying to get into the studio all day yesterday, but that just didn’t happen.  I have so many ideas swirling in my head for the upcoming NOVEMBER 8th release and I just can’t find the time to get them all done…at least at the moment.  I’ll be carving out some dedicated craft time a little later this week and I hope to be unstoppable (i.e.-no craft fails!)

NewRelease

We’ll be filling your cup (and more) with a whole lot of merry!  And, yes, that was a hint to what’s coming up!

. . . . .

Being that it’s Tuesday it’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!  Since we are just a few short days away from Halloween, I had to make just one more Halloween card and I think that this one may just be my favorite one of all using SPOOKY CUTIES, SPOOKY SENTIMENTS and the banner/cone from CELEBRATE CAKE

DancenGleam

I had pulled out CELEBRATE CAKE to do a birthday card, but I still had some Halloween papers left on my desk from a previous project and I had a little “light bulb” moment and created this Halloween colored banner to go along with the sentiment from SPOOKY SENTIMENTS and the montage of Halloween images from SPOOKY CUTIES that I grounded with a small green flag-ended strip to make the green stem and green bubbly potion (embellished with some Diamond Stickles) in the cauldron pop.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the announcement of the October ‘Fetti Fave! A little birdie told me that her stamps may already be on their way, too!

FINAL ‘FETTI FINDS ANNOUNCED

By admin
on October 28, 2013

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today is the last ‘Fetti Finds announcement.  As I mentioned last week, after much deliberation we have chosen to discontinue the weekly link list and ‘Fetti Finds. I didn’t love how it was working (on many levels) and I felt that there was something else that we could be doing to involve our customers in a fun and engaging way.  We will continue the SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY (posted on 1st of each month) and in November we will be adding a COLOR CHALLENGE which will be posted on the 16th of each month.  While the first one is still a few weeks away, I did want to keep you in the loop on what is happening here and provide an answer to why we have chosen to discontinue the weekly link list.  The winners of the SFYTT and COLOR CHALLENGES will be the new ‘Fetti Faves!  Look for more details on that in the SFYTT and COLOR CHALLENGE posts in November.

There are lots of things happening here at Reverse Confetti! I mean LOTS!!  We shared a couple of things last week and there are still more announcements coming, including new team members joining us.   It will be a super Happy Halloween as we introduce them to you!

Since we are designating the 31st to new team member intros, the ‘FETTI FAVE will be announced on the 30th.  One of the ‘Fetti Finds from this month, including the 2 that are mentioned today may be the next ‘FETTI FAVE.   Going forward, the winners of the Sketch For You to Try and Color Challenges will be titled ‘Fetti Faves.. . . . .

So, without further adieu…

The ‘Fetti Finds from last week’s link list are BECKY CARAFA and TANJII CRAIN!

Becky and Tanjii , grab your badge!

FettiFind_L

I love how Becky created her own pattern paper by repeating the sentiment from FOREVER FALL and that two-tone acorn is just too cute…

Tanjii’s bright and colorful card using ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS made me smile…

Congrats to these two very talented ladies and to all the ‘Fetti Finds from October.  On Wednesday one of the ‘Fetti Finds will be crowned this month’s ‘Fetti Fave and they will received the entire stamp release for November and be invited to play along with the Confetti Crew for the new release sneak peeks and hop.

WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on October 25, 2013

TGIF, my friends!

Anyone ready for the weekend?  I sure am!  The candy collecting, I mean trick (trunk)-o-treating begins tomorrow!  My daughter changed her mind about her costume at the last minute.  She is reprising her role as Mary Poppins for this weekend’s festivities and then dressing up as Vanellope von Schweetz (from the Wreck It Ralph movie) on October 31st.  I love costumes that are put together like these.  My lil’ man will be going as The Hulk, a costume that he had to have 3 months ago when we passed it at Sam’s Club.  While I love Halloween, I am not really one for dressing up (gasp!), but I sure am looking forward to getting my lil’ ones primped and prepped.  Here’s the side of Halloween that I like the best (the decor and crafting!)…

. . . . .

Did you think I forgot about the Confetti Camera post yesterday?  We just took the week off this week.  Next week’s Confetti Camera will be packed with introductions you won’t want to miss!

Also, I did get a shipping notification from our manufacturer and FOREVER FALL should be back in stock early next week.

. . . . .

Being that it’s Friday, it’s time for WEEK IN REVERSE where we take a peek back at what the Confetti Crew has been up to this week.

Heather was inspired by the cool weather and traditional fall color palette when she created this beautiful card.

Susan’s card has its eyes on you!

It seems that Amy K. is also in the mood for fall with this sweet clean and simple card.  I just love that 2-tone acorn!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on October 23, 2013

Hello and Happy Hump Day!

. . . . .

Our 6th month “birthday” is quickly approaching and we are definitely kicking it up a notch.  As mentioned in Monday’s post, we will no longer be doing the weekly link list/’Fetti Finds (you can still link up this week!), but rather a color challenge that will start in November.  I’ve also eluded to a few more things happening here at Reverse Confetti.  Some of them are over the top spectacular (ok, I may be a little biased) and some aren’t so great.  Case in point…Confetti Crew member, Dawn Easton, recently accepted a promotion at her job (Congrats, Dawn!) and moved, as well.  I’m over the moon happy for her and her family as she pursues great opportunities. Unfortunately (for us), she has decided to take a break from the Confetti Crew while the dust settles.   Please join me in wishing Dawn all the best as new adventures are beginning for her.  Of course, we hope to see her back with the Crew, too!

. . . . .

It’s Wednesday and time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS.

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on FINDING YOUR MOJO/INSPIRATION, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

What do I mean by “finding your mojo?”  No matter how good of a crafter/creator/stamper/artist you are, there comes a lull in inspiration from time to time.  There’s no way to tell when it’s going to hit.  One day you can be creating the best projects  you have ever made and the next you stare at your desk like it’s a foreign land and you have no idea what to do.  So, how do can you find that inspiration that is needed to kick start another project?  Sorry to say that there isn’t just one answer to this.  Everyone feeds their creativity differently.  (I’ll have more tips below on that).

For me, (first) I peruse the internet looking at different color palettes and scrapbook layouts.  Yes, scrapbook layouts. I often find a trigger on a layout that will get me going.  It may be a particular shape, sentiment or even the layout itself that helps me along.  Other times, I look around at the various challenges that are happening in the blogosphere.  Lots of times I will find a color palette, sketch or inspiration piece that will get me going. That’s what happened for me on this card using FOREVER FALL and SPOOKY CUTIES

RCBluePumpkins

This card uses the current inspiration piece from the Curtain Call challenge…

october 15_gorgeous gourds

I have to be honest, blue pumpkins were *not* coming to mind as I stared at these stamp sets.  However, a quick peek at this inspiration piece and I knew what I wanted to do…a clean and simple card that put the blue pumpkins front and center.  Here’s a detail shot of those stamped pumpkins…

RCBluePumpkins_detail

As I mentioned before, there is no one answer to finding your mojo, but hopefully these tips will help you the next next you find yourself at a creative lull…

1.  Step away from the project/your desk and go to a place that you find relaxing/comforting.  This may be the chair in the living room or a chair in the local coffee shop.  Either way, just remove yourself from the project at hand momentarily.

2. Sleep on it.  This kinda goes with #1.  I can’t tell you how many times that I try to start or finish a project late at night and it’s just not coming together the way I want it to.  I clean up my area like I would on any other evening, leaving my project on my desk,  and sleep on it.  In the morning when I have fresh eyes, it seems to much easier to get the creativity flowing.

3. Grab a magazine or hop on Pinterest. Chances are that you will find a trigger in one of these places.  Look at each project’s colors, textures and layouts.  Make notes as you go along and bring those back to your workspace with you to help things along.

4. CASE (copy) yourself!  Find one of your favorite projects and see if you can’t recreate it in part or whole using the supplies you have on your desk/at hand.

5. Start over.  Now, I know that no one wants to chuck potentially hours worth of work into the round file, but sometimes starting over is just the thing that is needed.  You’ll notice that I put this one at the end of this list of tips, and for good reason…it’s a last resort (for me, at least).

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on October 22, 2013

Howdy, Howdy my friends!

I noticed a lot of not so happy “Oh no, it’s Monday” posts on Facebook yesterday.  I hope that Tuesday brings more sunshine to everyone…literally and figuratively!  I actually had a great day yesterday, as I finally got to start prepping projects for the November 8th release.  I love inking up fresh stamps and I can’t wait to share these with everyone!

I’m glad to hear that y’all are looking forward to the upcoming color challenge.  I’m super excited about it and know that it will be lots of fun for everyone!   Don’t forget that the weekly link list is still open this week, so link up those Reverse Confetti creations!  Stay tuned for more fun announcements coming up, too!

. . . . .

It’s TIME FOR A TWO CARDS TUESDAY!

The first card today uses the set COUNT YOUR RAINBOWS from our Key Words Collection, where you are able to mix and match a key word with a variety of other words to create several different sentiments.  I thought this one was fitting for the season of thanks that we are quickly coming upon.

CountYourBlessings

The leaf was cut out with my Silhouette and then spritzed with Art Anthology Warm (Brown) Color Spray and Heidi Swapp’s Mustard Color Shine.  I have to admit that this is not the first leaf that I created.  I had originally tried to create a leaf similar to the ones falling outside my window…red, yellow and green.  I ended up with a yellow and green leaf that looked like it had blood spatter on it.  Needless to say, it was not pretty.  I do love how this one came out and I think it’s a perfect compliment to the sentiment and overall theme of the card…

CountYourBlessings_detail

As you can see from both cards today, I love having white space on my cards and using small layers and a variety of colors that “POP!” off the white space.  This card using CELEBRATE CAKE (Key Words Collection), INNER ROCK STAR and WHOLE LOTTA DOTS does just that…

Bday

I started with the charcoal panel stamped with the large dots from WHOLE LOTTA DOTS and built on it.  Here’s a detail shot of the banner I created from flag ended pattern paper and layered it with the “Happy Birthday” sentiment…

Bday_detail

I was just about to call it complete, but I kept thinking that it needed something.  You know that feeling…where it’s just not done until you can find that perfect finishing touch.  For this card, it was two things.  The charcoal panel did not originally have the dots stamped on it, but I am so happy that I added them.  They added just the perfect touch and tied in the dots on the banner nicely.  The second finishing touch is the black layer under the charcoal layer.  All that that leads me to a tip that I want to share with you…don’t adhere down any panels or embellishments until you know your project is complete.  You never know when you will want to add a stamped and/or additional paper layer!

‘FETTI FINDS & THE LAST WEEKLY LINK LIST

By admin
on October 21, 2013

Hello and Happy Monday, ‘Fetti Fans!

Yes, you read the title of the post correctly.  This will be the last weekly link list.  “Why?”, you ask.  Well, there are several reasons and I must say that I did not arrive at the decision to discontinue it lightly.

That is just the first of several announcements about how we are making REVERSE CONFETTI better.  Stay tuned for more…I promise you’re gonna love everything we have up our sleeves!

. . . . .

Thank you to everyone who has played along with the weekly link lists.  Not only this week, but every week, I am blown away by your creativity and am so thankful to have such wonderful customers and ‘Fetti Fans. THANK YOU!!

Without any further adieu, let me announce this week’s ‘FETTI FINDS…

Each Monday we’ll be posting (although, as mentioned above, this is the last one):

  • The ‘FETTI FINDS from the previous week’s link list.
  • A new link list at the bottom of the ‘Fetti Find post.  It will remain open through Saturday of that week.

<– FIND IT FAST: You’ll be able to find the current ‘Fetti Find post quickly by clicking on the button on the sidebar.

The last day of the month:

  • The ‘FETTI FAVE will be announced here on the Reverse Confetti blog.  This will be one of the ‘Fetti Finds from that month and they will be chosen based on their project and creative use of REVERSE CONFETTI stamps.  The ‘FETTI FAVE will receive the ENTIRE NEXT STAMP RELEASE and be invited to play along with the Confetti Crew for sneak peek days and the new release hop.

Just a couple of rules…

  • Anything goes, as long as Reverse Confetti stamps are the only stamps used OR are the main focal point of the project.
  • No limit to the number of projects linked, but they must be posted to your blog or gallery that same week (no linking older projects).

WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on October 18, 2013

TGIF, my friends!

It was a short week here, as the kiddos were off for Columbus Day, but I have to say that I am glad that the weekend is upon us!  Other than getting a flu shot, the weekend looks bright and cheery!  I’m hoping to get in some serious craft time in preparation for the next Reverse Confetti release (November 8th!).  There are a lot of awesome things coming soon.  Stay tuned, as next week I will be making a few different announcements that you won’t wanna miss!

. . . . .

It’s time now to take a peek back at what the Confetti Crew came up with this week in our WEEK IN REVERSE.

You never know how or when inspiration will strike.  Brilliance hit Val at 3:43 in the morning the other day and she created this darling Halloween treat container using an up-cycled pill container.

CONFETTI CAMERA

By admin
on October 17, 2013

Hey there, ‘Fetti Fans!

We’re glad that you are joining us for this week’s Confetti Camera!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations.  You’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration, as well as get to know each designer a little better through some interview questions that we have prepared.  A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member.

. . . . .

Have you linked up your Reverse Confetti cards or projects to this week’s link list?  If not, what are you waiting for?  Let’s see those awesome Reverse Confetti creations!

. . . . .

This week the Confetti Camera is zooming in on Confetti Crew member LISA HENKE. She’s the newest member of the crew and the last one to take on this round of Confetti Camera.  The next round will feature a whole new set of questions and you might just see a few new faces, too! More on that soon!

POST PRODUCTION INTERVIEW

What do you like best about this project?

First thing I love is the color combo, anything Kraft makes me happy. Next I used a sketch from one of my favorite weekly challenges, The Deconstructed Sketch. I also love the bit of texture I added with the embossed stripes and the bit of stitching and distressing along my edges.

What was your process on making this project? Did you have a starting point (color, inspiration, sketch? )

Aside from the sketch I used, I’d have to say the color was my starting point. I knew I wanted a fall card, so I picked a fall-ish color scheme.

What inspiration can others take from this project?

I’m not sure if anyone can tell, but the papers I used are from a Halloween paper pack from My Minds Eye. I pulled out some non-Halloween prints from the pack to create this thank-you card. You can use those papers all year long. Most packs include great patterns that can be used for any occasion, not just the holiday they were intended for.

Describe/Share your stamping space.

While I love creating in my craft room, I don’t LOVE the space. It’s small and jammed packed and I am a messy stamper. I use an old desk that was my FIL’s. It is sturdy and sure holds A LOT of stuff. I have my most used supplies right at my finger tips. Copics, buttons, ribbon and twine all sit on my desk top. The top drawers hold my Fiskers paper cutter, my stamp cleaning pads, and my embossing heat gun.

LisaH. Space A (2)

To my left, in the closet are those fabulous white, stacking, storage cubes many of you have. They hold all my other beloved items: inks, cardstock, designer paper, stamps, more ribbon, brads, washi tape, etc. I have more of these stacked on the opposite wall.

LisaH. SpaceB (2)

I also have another make-shift desk behind me that holds my Vagabond, dies, and sewing machine (there is also a dinosaur of a computer that we NEVER use. I don’t know why hubby won’t get rid of it).

Do you have to clean your desk before starting a new project?

I do NOT clean my desk before starting new projects.  I hate organizing. There I said it. I will put away stamps and dies almost every project, but I always have a pile of card stock scraps, unused embellies, scissors, dimensional backings and ink scattered around the desk top. I love that I can close the door and walk away. It’s easier to keep it messy this way. My craft room also doubles as our guest room, so the only time it gets a good cleaning is when my parents come to visit. Lucky for you, this happened the other week!

Here is how I store my Reverse Confetti stamps. I do keep my stamps separated by stamp company, so my RC stamps have their own sweet basket. I did just buy those cool sleeves that Valerie showed us last week. I am loving them and they work great for keeping my sets in tact.

LisaH.Space D (2)

What is your must-have tool?  Why do you like it so much?

LisaH. Space C

My Vagabond. Although, any die cut machine would make me happy. I don’t think I ever create anything without it. I don’t mid fussy cutting my images with scissors, or using my paper cutter for straight cuts, but having the option to cut soooo many other great shapes and make custom embellies really make me happy!

Do you always make A2 sized cards?  If you deviate from the standard size, what favorite size to make?

Nope. I make cards is all shapes and sizes. I LOVE a great circle or square card, and lately I’ve been drawn to a skinnier card base, 3.75 x 5.5. It still fits in an A2 envelope, but the narrower size looks great with a scrappy, graphic style.

What is your favorite RC project so far? Why?

This canvas I created for my first blog hop is one of my faves. I LOVE the colors and texture and I used my favorite RC stamp set, Forever Fall. Gosh how I looove that wood grain. That banner makes me smile, too. I have this hanging in my house as one of my new fall decor’ items of the season.
