TIME FOR A CARD (OR THREE TAGS) TUESDAY

By admin
on June 17, 2014

Happy Tuesday ‘Fetti Fans!

On Tuesday, I usually have a card for the TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY post, but I’m mixing it up a little and today I have 3 coordinating tags to share with you.

These 3 tags all use this month’s COLOR CHALLENGE that was introduced yesterday.  I hope that you will play along with this fabulous color palette!

Click on image for more details…

June14ColorChallenge

Here’s what I came up with using this fun and fresh color combo…

ColorTags

To create these tags, I started with a white tag cut from the TAG ME Confetti Cuts die set.  I also cut tags from yellow cardstock and used the bottom inch of those on top of the white tag bases.  I also used the yellow on the enforcer ring at the top of the tag.  The banner strip in the center of the tag is cut from aqua cardstock with the banner from the TAG ME Confetti Cuts die set and then stamped and embossed with the thick stripes from the SO STRIPEY stamp set.  I love the subtle texture that this embossing brings to these tags.  Each of the tags is stamped with the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from LOTS TO SAY and then I embellished each one differently.

The first one has an apple and leaf on it from the CLASS ACT Confetti Cuts die set.  I cut 2 apples and popped one up for added dimension.  (I actually did that on all the tags with their respective die cut embellishments).

ColorTags2

This tag has the large heart from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set, along with some red rhinestones…

ColorTags1

I saved my favorite for last.  I just love this tag with the stars from OH MY STARS.  When creating these tags, I had 3 people in mind: a teacher (apple), my daughter (heart with bling) and my son who lives and breathes stars, stripes and superheroes (just like this tag)…

Hello and Happy Thursday!

Day 3 of summer was interesting, to say the least.  It included catching a garden snake and explaining what two “hugging” lizards were doing on our bricks.  I’ll spare you a pic of the hugging, but here’s the slithery friend I found wandering in the garden yesterday along with a lizard going solo…

DSC01267

DSC01285

It’s a good thing I was a tomboy growing up, because I don’t think that I could hack it otherwise.

In addition to catching critters, we managed to squeeze in a little crafty time this week, too.  Here’s a pic of the glitter bottles we did…

DSC01228

There are a variety of recipes for these out there.  I found that distilled water (warm to get glue to dissolve faster), plus glitter glue and a few extra sparkles was the best combination.

As for the rest of this week…I still need to come up with a Father’s Day project for Tony and squeeze in a science project, too!

. . . . .

I love sharing bits of me here on the Reverse Confetti blog, but I am guessing that you came here to see what’s been happening in paper and ink!

Since it’s Thursday it’s time for another fun installment of Confetti Camera!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations. For this round, you’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration from a fun tip or technique from each of our designers. A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions/show a tip until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member (then it’s a new round with new questions/theme). To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

3) For this round we are focusing on how Reverse Confetti stamp sets are compatible with each other and each of the Confetti Crew members is picking two of their favorites to pair together on their project.

Today on Confetti Camera, the spotlight is on the super-mom, super-stamper, LAURIE SCHMIDLIN

Little Baby by Laurie Schmidlin

One evening while getting my little guy ready for bed, it struck me how super cute his sleeper was! That may seem odd, but I had never before really looked at the color combo before. I immediately thought that it would make a pretty cute card! I also thought that the whale reminded me of the whale in the HAPPY HARBOR set! I used the exact colors of the sleeper (navy and mint) to create this baby boy card, but you could easily swap out the colors for a more girly card! I embossed the whale using white embossing powder (I really wanted it to stand out on the navy cardstock) and I stamped the baby sentiment (from the LOTS TO SAY set) using navy ink. That’s it! A quick card perfect for a baby gift or even mass producing for baby announcement/thank you cards!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on June 11, 2014

Hey there ‘Fetti Fans and Happy Hump Day!

Day 2 of summer vacation in the books and I am exhausted!  Ok, not really…well, kind of.

I have mandated down time so that we can all take a breather.  Meaning, they relax and I craft.   This arrangement is going to work out brilliantly!

. . . . .

Before I get to the heart of the WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS post, I want to announce the winner from our blog hop comments…

winner

Megan, please email info@reverseconfetti.com to claim your prize!

. . . . .

It’s Wednesday and time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

Today, I’m touching on the subject of metallics.  They are hot, hot, hot right now.  While gold is my fave, and what seems to be most accessible, there are lots of other choices…silver, copper and even a variety of colors made into metallics!

Yesterday, my card had several layers and details.  Today, I’m keeping it simple…

HoorayForYou

There are lots of ways that you can incorporate metallics into your projects.  I chose to use metallics as a simple embellishment here.  I cut the star strip from the OH MY STARS Confetti Cuts die set from gold metallic paper (purchased at Michaels) and added it above and below the sentiment (from WINNING, along with the stars stamped in VersaMark).

Just a few tips…

When using metallics in your projects, keep it simple as they are easily the star of the show.  I’m  not saying only make clean and simple projects with them, just keep in mind that a little can often go a long way.

Pair them with neutrals (white, black, gray, kraft).  Here I used a white card base along with a large gray panel, which helped to make both the colors and the gold “POP.”

Last, and most importantly…have fun with them!  Metallics are a great way to jazz up a project and give it personality.

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on June 10, 2014

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

We’ve survived the first day of the first week of summer.  Hey, you gotta start somewhere!  Yesterday was filled with swim lessons, a glitter bottle craft (a la Pinterest), grocery shopping, reading,  laundry, Wii playing and more swimming.  I see feet up and crafting on the list for the rest of the week!  We were actually supposed to go to the beach tomorrow, but seeing as they are having a bit of a shark issue we are going to pass and get right on that feet up and crafting!

It’s Tuesday and TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!  I had fun creating this scrappy card using HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO Confetti Cuts, ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS, CLASS ACT, CLASS ACT Confetti Cuts and LOVE NOTE and TAG ME Confetti Cuts (remember how I told you I like to mix ‘n match our products?)…

WhereverYouGo

I started with just the 2 strips of pattern paper and the car (stamped and die cut).  From there, I used the notebook paper image to “ground” the car and I used the arrow and “Take Note” sentiment from the ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS along with the sentiment from HERE WE GO.

This is such a fun card using a variety of elements and products along with an awesome color combo.  I’ll definitely being using this combo of lime, aqua, orange and navy again soon!

In case of a break in the hop or if you miss a hopper, there is a full list of participants at the end of this post.

One of the things I do when designing new products is keep the previously released products in mind. By doing so, I make sure that products are compatible with each other and it’s easy to mix ‘n match them.  I love to mix and match stamps and dies and that is just what I did on this fun and patriotic banner project…

So, how many Reverse Confetti products can you name on this project?  Two? Three??  How about SEVEN! It is so fun to be able to use products over and over and mix ‘n match to create new and unique projects!

Hello and Happy Thursday, ‘Fetti Fans!

Of course, I have some fun Reverse Confetti stuff planned, too!

Well, it’s Thursday and time for another fabulous installment of Confetti Camera!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations.
