CONFETTI CAMERA

By admin
on December 12, 2013

Hey there, ‘Fetti Fans!

We’re glad that you are joining us for this week’s Confetti Camera!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations.  For this round, you’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration from a fun tip or technique from each of our designers.  A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions/show a tip until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member (then it’s a new round with new questions/theme).  To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

. . . . .

This week the Confetti Camera is zooming in on Confetti Crew member SARAH GOUGH.

I love dies. As my SWEET TREAT TENT Confetti Cuts flew over to NZ, I started day dreaming about ways to get even more fun out of this already awesome die. Thinking about the oval, I thought it might be perfect as a speech bubble! I was so excited to try it out and love how it looks!

Here’s the simple how to:

concamSarahGoughTUTE (1)

Cut the Sweet Treat Tent – you only need the top portion, this is great for using up card scraps.

concamSarahGoughTUTE (2)

Trim off the top tab.

concamSarahGoughTUTE (3)

Decide which side you want the speech bubble to point – make an angled cut as long as you want your pointy bit.

concamSarahGoughTUTE (4)

Make a second cut, straight down.

concamSarahGoughTUTE (5)

Voila!

If you like, you can leave your panel edge straight. I wanted my corners to match up. I don’t have a corner punch this exact size, so I used a trick I often utilize with dies (especially when trimming borders to size)

concamSarahGoughTUTE (6)

Lay your panel on the die, making it as long as you want the panel to be.

concamSarahGoughTUTE (7)

Using your finger or a bone folder, rub over the die to create an impression in the cardstock.

concamSarahGoughTUTE (8)

Trim away on the lines and you’ll have perfectly matching corners!

concamSarahGoughTUTE (9)

concamSarahGoughTUTE (10)

A couple of more detail shots…

ConCamSarahGoughCLOSE (3)

ConCamSarahGoughCLOSE (2)

I also made a panel for the inside of my card – this time I cut the Sweet Treat Tent once, then laid the panel back inside the die and carefully re-cut it, making sure to only run my cutting plates through enough to cut the oval again, then cranking in reverse to avoid cutting too far. I trimmed off the excess and had a fun double bubble panel!

It’s Wednesday and time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS.

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on the TAG ME Confetti Cuts die, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

The TAG ME Confetti Cuts die is more than just a tag.  Several of the Confetti Crew members, as well as lots of customers have used this sweet tag as a panel on a card (just like I did yesterday).  It’s still more than that!  Today I am going to show you how to make this cute Santa box using the TAG ME Confetti Cuts die in just a few short steps!

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on December 10, 2013

Hello ‘Fetti Fans!

Have you hopped with us yet?  If  not, be sure to scroll down after you finish this post and check out all the fabulous Reverse Confetti projects that the Confetti Crew and ‘Fetti Friends have put together.  There’s also a chance to win!  Happy hopping and good luck!

Just a quick reminder that our SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY is open and awaiting your submissions…of course, there’s a chance to win there, too!  Click on the sketch on the sidebar to get all the details.

. . . . .

Before I get to the cards I have created for today’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY post, I want to share a picture from my front yard that I took over the weekend…

IMG_4838

This is a rose from my front garden that is covered in ice.  We have been iced in for the past several days and while I am grateful that I was able to capture the beauty of this rose, I promise the next time the weatherman says that our area will be “entombed in ice” (yes, he literally reported that), I hope to catching a flight to somewhere much warmer and beach-ier than North Texas!

On that note, we have been experiencing some delays with postal service.  Orders placed over the weekend may see a slight delay in ship times due to this storm.  We thank you for your patience.

. . . . .

It’s Tuesday and that means…TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!

For today’s post, I made a trio of matching winter/Christmas cards.  These cards measure 4.25″ square, which is a perfect small square card size that will still fit into an A2 envelope.  They’re also the perfect size for popping in a gift card for some special teachers, friends, family or neighbors!  The front of the card is stamped with the “just a note to say” sentiment from the LOTS TO SAY set and also has 1/4″ cut off to show the pattern paper adhered to the inside.

SnowflakeTrio

Inside of cards with one of the sentiments that can be created using the BRING ON THE MERRY set…

SnowflakeTrioInside

Each of the cards is just slightly different on the front, but contains all the same elements: TAG ME Confetti Cuts die cut tied off with black and white baker’s twine, round white embossed panel matted with white circle, blue snowflake cut from Silhouette and sequins topped with rhinestones…

CONFETTI CREW CREATIVE BLOG HOP

By admin
on December 08, 2013

Howdy and welcome to the December Confetti Crew Creative Hop!

As you may know, we release on the 8th of every OTHER month, but we still have fun on our non-release months with a creative hop featuring all of the Confetti Crew and a few friends, too!

DecHop

This is the start of the hop.

There is a full list of hoppers toward the end of this post in case you get lost along the way.

As the graphic above suggests, there is a TON of AWESOME inspiration from not only the best design team anyone could ask for, The Confetti Crew, but also from some very, very special guests, or as we like to call them ‘FETTI FRIENDS!

So, get the cuppa joe or tea, get cosy and click on through this amazingly fun blog hop!  Don’t forget to leave a comment on each stop along the way for a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the Reverse Confetti store. Comments are open until Tuesday, December 10th at 2pm CST, and the winner will be announced on the “Wednesday in the Works” post on the 11th right here on the Reverse Confetti blog.

. . . . .

I warned you a little earlier this week that I was having a little trouble steering away from the kraft, red, green, black and white color combo and this card using BRING ON THE MERRY  is just another example of my recent obsession of using these colors together.

HopCard

This is one of those cards that ended up looking nothing like what I had in mind when I started to create it. The one thing that I was certain of the whole time was the sentiment that I wanted…Merry Christmas & Happy New Year (it’s just one of SO MANY that you can create using the Bring on the Merry set).

All the other panels were tweaked, re-worked and a few may have ended up in the circular file!    To begin with, the “trees” were rectangular panels at first. After tweaking them in all different ways and not liking anything I came up with, I cut them into triangles to resemble Christmas trees. I like how they “break up” the card a little bit and resemble a tree without technically being a (paper) tree.  The embossed panel was a late addition, too.  Sometimes the creative process is much more of a process than I bargain for…LOL!  At the very end, I added the sequins for a some bling because every (Christmas) card needs that, right?!

I don’t want to keep you too long here because there is SO MUCH more to see!

Are you ready to HOP? Let’s go!

WEEK IN REVERSE

By admin
on December 06, 2013

Hello and TGIF ‘Fetti Fans!

I’m writing this post on Thursday evening as I listen to a light pitter patter against my windows only to look outside to see that it’s raining…ice.  Yes, ice is just falling out of the sky… and accumulating on the ground (eek!).  Needless to say, there may be a slight shipping delay.  Fortunately, living in North Texas also means that this kind of stuff doesn’t hang around for too long (thank goodness!).  We appreciate your patience and will be processing and shipping orders as fast as Mother Nature allows us.

. . . . .

Being that it is Friday, it’s time for our WEEK IN REVERSE where we take a peek at what the fantastically talented CONFETTI CREW has been up to this week…

I love how Val incorporated Reverse Confetti stamps into her scrapping projects.  (Our stamps are designed for all your paper crafting projects).

Forever Fall, Whole Lotta Dots, Arrows ‘n Elements, So Stripey

Savannah always has a unique take on the SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY!  I love her elements that she used where the circles are shown on the sketch…a perfect way to make it her own!

Arrows ‘n Elements, Forever Fall, Celebrate Cake

Stacey is just one of the Confetti Crew designers that has take the Sweet Treat Confetti Cuts die and turned it into a panel on a card…such a fun idea and a great way to get the most use out of your Confetti Cuts dies!

Tinsel ‘n Trim, Bring on the Merry, Sweet Treat Tent Confetti Cuts

Lisa also used the Sweet Treat Tent as a panel on this gorgeous Christmas card.

Bring on the Merry, Tinsel ‘n TrimSweet Treat Tent Confetti Cuts

Sarah has so many fun details on this card and I just adore that gold! Bling, bling!

Inner Rock Star, So Stripey

What a perfect wedding/anniversary combo that Heather created!  Such sweet elegance!

Lots to Say, Tag Me Confetti Cuts, Sweet Treat Tent Confetti Cuts

Susan created an excellent card to have on hand for any friend or family member.

Lots to Say

Amy‘s note tags are just too cute!  Love those colors!

Hello and Happy Thursday, ‘Fetti Friends!

The 8th is quickly approaching and while we don’t have a release this month (remember, every other month), we do have a fabulous blog hop planned filled with lots of Reverse Confetti inspiration.  Of course, there will be a prize up for grabs, too, so mark your calendars and come hop with us!

. . . . .

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member.  To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

. . . . .

This week the Confetti Camera is zooming in on yours truly. Yep, you are stuck with me today!  And, I’m stuck on kraft, black, red, green and white.  I used this same color palette yesterday and I went ahead and stayed with it for today’s project.  I’ll go ahead and warn you that you may just see it again with my hop project.

Well here it is in all it’s same color palette as yesterday glory…

Coffee

This card uses the new set, BE A BARISTA.  I love the versatility of this coffee set!  Today I kept it simple and used the solid coffee image, but dressed it up a little bit by using a little tip that I want to share with you.

I love a little bit of sparkle or bling and this little trick is the perfect way to get that perfect amount of shimmer.  The above picture doesn’t capture it, but see the shimmery coffee below.

Here’s what you are going to need…

1. Sakura Stardust Pen

2. Aqua Painter filled with RUBBING ALCOHOL

Tip: Do not go for the cheap aqua painter!  This is definitely a product that you get what you pay for.  The cheaper versions leak and the brush sheds.  You should expect to pay $7-9 for one.

SakuraPen

The first thing you are going to do is scribble a little bit of the Sakura Stardust Pen on the coffee around the edges of the coffee image…

GlitterPenCoffee

Next, using the aqua painter filled with rubbing alcohol, go over the glittered area and spread it all around.  This creates a very thin, but oh-so-sparkly, layer over the coffee image…

SparklyCoffee

Viola!…the perfect touch of shimmer added!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on December 04, 2013

Hello ‘Fetti Fans!

First, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone took part in our “Thankful for You” sale.  All of the orders from the sale have now been sent out and should be arriving in your mailbox shortly.  You may have noticed that a few of our products have sold out.  Many of these are still available at i{heart}papers.  If you would like to receive updates on when these items will be back in stock, please “like” us on Facebook and sign up for our newsletter.

. . . . .

It’s Wednesday and time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS.

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on texture and dimension, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

Whenever I get asked to describe my card making style, I have to pause and think.  While I love clean and simple (CAS), I think that the more layered, textured and embellished is more my everyday style.  Of course, ask me this question next week and I may have a completely different answer.

Today I’m sharing with you one of my “more is more” cards using the BRING ON THE MERRY and CELEBRATE CAKE sets from our Key Words Collection and the TAG ME Confetti Cuts…

BOTMCard

To create texture on this card, I used a couple different ways to emboss/alter my cardstock.  The white panel is embossed with a embossing folder.  The kraft panel, which is actually 2 TAG ME Confetti Cuts dies put together, was run through my paper crimper (yes, I still use that thing!).

TIP: When using more than one embossed panel on your card/project, vary the size of the embossed pattern.  As you can see the white panel has a small pattern, while the paper crimped panel provides a contrasting larger pattern.  I’ll be revisiting this tip when I chat about pattern paper in a future Wednesday in the Works post.

Texture and dimension is also brought in by using a variety of embellishments: rhinestone, thread and a mini clothespin.

Here’s a shot of the dimension of this card (holy glue dots, Batman!)…

BOTMCard_detail

I try to vary which panels are popped up.  The first couple of layers are glued flat and the additional layers are popped up.  I do not generally pop up a panel from its mat, as I like to keep those as “one” piece/panel.
