WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on February 26, 2014

Welcome to WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS.

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

As noted last week, a few of the Confetti Crew design team members will be guest blogging here.  Today, we welcome Lisa Henke to the Wednesday in the Works post.

Trends. They are a fun way to add some extra pizazz to your stamps and supplies. Especially simple, sentiments. I used three trends on my card today along with  the LOTS TO SAY stamp set.  I used two of the sentiments to create this custom thank you note.

rc-wed works thanks-2

I love that stencils and modeling paste (or embossing paste) are trending right now. I pulled out a dotty stencil to make a custom backdrop for my sentiment.

You’ll want to make sure to secure your stencil over top of your card stock and before swiping some Modeling Paste (you can find it in any craft or art store). I used an old credit card or gift card to apply my paste, an off-set spatula works great, too. For an extra bit of depth and interest, I did move my stencil just a little bit when I applied the paste to create the ghosting effect. Set this panel aside to dry.

wedworks-stencil

I also love the angled panels I’ve been seeing on lots of cards across blog land. It adds great visual interest to any card. Cut a rectangle panel, angle it off the side and bottom (or top, depending on where you want the angle to be) of your card base and then use your trimmer to snip off the overhang.

rc-wed works thanks detail

The final trend so hot right now are sequins. They are just the sweetest little embellishments and with all the different color choices your options are endless. I used the Rule of Three on my card and added a trio of sequin clusters across  my card front.

I used the sentiment flag from TAG ME Confetti Cuts to pop up the ” just a note” stamp. Keeping the sentiment simple, really allows the trendy items to shine!

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you feel inspired to try one or all of these paper crafting trends.

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on February 25, 2014

Howdy, ‘Fetti Fans!

Boy, oh boy has it been a fun week so far…and it’s just Tuesday!  Monday was filled with crafty time with the upcoming release (March 8th) stamps/dies and then a little bit of retail therapy due to a Michael’s “25% off your entire purchase” order plopping itself in my inbox (how sweet is that!?).  I’m still a busy lil’ bee here prepping for the release and for the move.  On the moving side of things we are just in a holding pattern until the packers come.  I suppose I could do a little bit of organizing or sorting, but who wants to do that when there are new stamps and dies waiting to be played with!?!

. . . . .

Well, it’s Tuesday and that means it’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY.  I realized that it had been a while since I inked up ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS so that is what I reached for and I came up with this card that uses a combo of freestyle collage and clean and simple design styles…

OhHello

The large pink scallops are cut from our DOUBLE EDGE SCALLOP BORDER Confetti Cuts die.  I LOVE this die…or should I say “these dies?”  It’s really TWO DIES IN ONE.  You can choose to use the small or large scalloped edge on your projects.  OR…you can even fold down one side of the die cut to create a whole new design element!

I also used the large heart from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set (which may be my favorite die set of ALL TIME <–yes, seriously!).

The “JUST SAYIN'” sentiment is stamped in VersaMark on the gray cardstock panel and then the “oh, hello” sentiment is stamped within the stripey rectangle that I popped up with dimensional adhesive.

Confetti Camera

Hello and Happy Thursday, ‘Fetti Fans!

Update on the move: Inspections on both our current and future home are complete.  We are now in the “hurry up and wait” mode for the next few weeks as we await the closing dates.  I’m getting really excited about our future home!  I’ve been picking up a few things here and there…Home Goods and I are getting to know each other quite well!  In addition, I’ve been calling preschools and after school activity places and trying to find the right spots for our kiddos and their interests.

. . . . .

It’s Thursday and time for CONFETTI CAMERA!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations. For this round, you’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration from a fun tip or technique from each of our designers. A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop or sneak peek day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions/show a tip until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member (then it’s a new round with new questions/theme). To see previous Confetti Camera post, simply click on “Confetti Camera” under the categories link on our sidebar.

. . . . .

Today the spotlight is on Confetti Crew member, AMBER HIGHT

Here’s Amber’s super fun (and darling!) Confetti Camera project using FREIDA FOX and LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts.

Hello there! Amber here with a fun little tutorial. Maybe many of you already know how to mask stamped images, but maybe some of you have never tried it! I promise you, it’s a lot of fun! I created this small little tutorial using Freida Fox and the Love Note die, both by Reverse Confetti!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on February 19, 2014

Welcome to WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS.

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.  As noted yesterday, design team members will be taking over some of the blog duties here at Reverse Confetti while I get ready for my family’s big move and prep for the March release…which will be here in a jiffy!

. . . . .

Hi ‘Fetti Fans!

SarahIntroPic

Sarah here today to share a couple of ways you can get even more out of your fabulous Confetti Cuts, namely the Arrow Die! We’re also going to talk about using vellum to tone down color or an intricate design.

WedinWorksSarahGough (1)

It’s no secret I love the Arrow Die, and I’ve used it in two ways on this card. Can’t spot it? Look closely under the vellum!

I cut a few arrows, and laid them out heads and tails style.

WedinWorksSarahGough (4)

I cut a circle frame, and adhered the arrows underneath, trimming off the excess to end up with this funky circle element. Your only limit is your imagination here, try different arrow formations, colors and frame shapes!

WedinWorksSarahGough (5)

I loved the detail in this piece, but also wanted to use some bright, fresh papers. It was all looking a little too busy so using the Love Note die I cut a vellum layer to tone everything down a little. Now I have some awesome detail for my focal layer, without it being super crazy!

I paper pieced the cup from Be a Barista, adding some copic shading to the rim and stamping the sentiment right on the vellum. We all know what a pain vellum can be with adhesive, so I’ve hid my pop dots behind the cup – easy! You’ll also spot the Tag Me Confetti Cuts used as banners behind the focal layer.

Want another little hint for the arrow die? Adhere two together as shown and you get an awesome border that is the exact width of a standard card base!

Time For a Card Tuesday

By admin
on February 18, 2014

Hello ‘Fetti Fans and Happy Tuesday!

A quick update on how everything is going here on the relocation front…To sum it up, slow and well.  I feel like we are in a hurry up and wait pattern and I know that this will continue for the next several of weeks.  Because this is a relocation, there are movers coming to pack us up just days before our world belongings are loaded up into a truck and whisked away to Houston (Cypress, to be exact).  Having moved many times, I feel like I have the packing process down and this time I am told to sit tight and they will do everything for me.  Let’s just say that the OCD side of me is going into overdrive just a bit!  The inspection on the house in Cypress is today.  Crossing my fingers we didn’t pick a lemon!  The inspection on our current home went well (YAY) and now I just need to keep the kids from causing any damage, etc.

Because things are so hectic here, I had to wave the white flag and call in reinforcements.  I’d love to say that we have family close by that will come get the kids when things get crazy, but we don’t.  I have great friends and neighbors that are helping out where they can I am so incredibly thankful to have them in our lives and for their assistance.  My “other” family is the design team (I seriously LOVE them) and they are coming to my aid and will be taking over a few posts here and there on the Reverse Confetti blog.  Don’t worry, I’m not falling off the face of the earth.  I’m working behind the scenes to get everything prepped and ready for both the big move and our biggest release yet on MARCH 8th!

. . . . .

Well since it is Tuesday that means it’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!  I love this month’s colors for the February Color Challenge (click on graphic on sidebar for all details) and created this card using the cranberry, light blue and gray color palette along with the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts and LOTS TO SAY stamp set to create this clean and simple card…

AlwaysAndForeverCard

This card came together very easily.  I started by cutting out the scalloped rectangle from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts and then cut out the large heart (also from LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts) from the center.  I used a solid strip of cranberry and light blue cardstock, as well as a piece of gray (w/ hearts) pattern paper to bring in the colors from the challenge.  While I was playing around with this panel, I thought that bringing in the neutral, kraft, would make the colors pop and did so by adding linen thread tied off with a wooden button and the kraft panel at the bottom (stamped with a sentiment from LOTS TO SAY).  I rounded the bottom corner to tie in with the softer lines of the scalloped panel.

Confetti Camera

By admin
on February 13, 2014

Hello and Happy Thursday!

For those of you following along with my relocation updates…nothing terribly exciting of new.  Things went well on the inspection of our current home and we are awaiting the inspection on our to-be home.  I am getting excited and picked up some new things at Home Goods yesterday for our new home.  I’ll be sharing pictures of the new place as soon as we are there and settled.  I’ve become a pro at unpacking and making a house a home as soon as possible.  I can’t stand to have boxes laying around!

With all of the hustle and bustle of the move, you will see some of the Confetti Crew team members taking over posts here over the next several weeks.  I’ll be busy prepping for the move, as well as our March 8th release.

Today the spotlight is on Confetti Crew member, AMY KOLLING

AmyKIntroPic

Here’s Amy’s fresh and fun Confetti Camera project using WHOLE LOTTA HEARTS, WHOLE LOTTA DOTS, CRUSHIN’, SWEET TREAT TENT Confetti Cuts, TAG ME Confetti Cuts and LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts…

2.13.14#3

Hi everyone!  I thought I’d show you a smaller than an A2 size card using the Sweet Treat Tent Confetti Cuts.  I love to get more use out of my dies and I especially like to use them in different ways!  The Sweet Treat Tent Die is such a versatile die…….I’ve used it on card fronts, as treat tents, and here as a card base!

 2.13.14#1

2.13.14#2

I started with a usual fold at the top, A2 size card base.  Placing my folded card just below the cutting line at the top and securing with Washi tape, I ran this through my Big Shot as a normal die.  When it comes out of the die, it makes for a sweet little “skinny” card!  Now, I cut my card the full length which left a tiny score line in my card front.  You can either trim your card down or simply cover this score line like I did here.  Either way works!  I then stamped the card front with Whole Lotta Hearts with pigment ink.  Since GOLD has become popular, I splattered some Color Shine in Gold across my card with a small paintbrush.

 2.13.14#4

Let’s talk about that foil paper……love this stuff.  I took several scrap pieces and placed them on the Sweet Treat Tent Die where I wanted them on my card front once cut and die cut.  I also die cut some Tag Me Dies and stamped a sentiment from Crushin’ in Delicata Gold Ink.  See that tiny gold ring around the tag hole?  Yep….Jen’s included a tag hole dies!  Lastly, I stamped an arrow stamp from Crushin’ randomly over my hearts in Delicata Gold Ink.
