By admin
on September 01, 2013

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

As I mentioned yesterday, you won’t find us blogging very much here on the Reverse Confetti blog on weekends unless there is something special happening.  Yesterday we announced the ‘Fetti Fave…a big congrats to the ever so talented Taheerah Atchia!

Today, it’s time for…

SFYTT_postgraphic

I can’t believe it’s already September 1st!

Disbelief aside, it is the first and time for the new SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY (SFYTT)!

The September SFYTT…

RC_SFYTT4

Being that our September release is just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to work with one of the new sets (releasing on September 8th), FOREVER FALL, for this sketch…

  • There will be a new sketch posted on the Reverse Confetti blog on the 1st of each month.

  • We originally stated that you must play with Reverse Confetti stamps to win; however, we are allowing “anything goes” until the end of the year. Note, that we will be adding this requirement in January.

  • There will be a winner each month and that person will receive ALL OF THE STAMP SETS for the next release and be invited to share their creations during our sneak peeks and hop!  The winner of SFYTT will be posted on the Reverse Confetti blog on the 15th of each month.

Want more SFYTT samples?  The Confetti Crew will be posting their sketch creations over the next couple of weeks for a continuous does of inspiration.  Today, check out what Dawn did with the sketch!

CONFETTI CAMERA

By admin
on August 29, 2013

Howdy!

We’re glad that you are joining us for this week’s Confetti Camera!

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations.  You’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration, as well as get to know each designer a little better through some interview questions that we have prepared.  A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop day…or on the sneak peek days that are just around the corner!! (we’re just a little excited over here)!

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member.

. . . . .

Before we jump into the CC post, just a quick reminder that we want to see YOUR Reverse Confetti creations!  Link ’em up on Monday’s ‘Fetti Finds link list (new link list each Monday).  There’s a find-it-fast button over on the sidebar.

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

I like the overall clean and graphic look, as well as the mostly neutral color palette.

What was your process on making this project? Did you have a starting point (color, inspiration, sketch)?

My starting point was an occasion — my oldest son’s thirteenth birthday, which we celebrated this past Sunday. Masculine and teen – a most tricky recipient, agreed? I pulled out some of the more masculine colors and patterns from a new-to-me 6×6 pad, Wonderful Day by Fancy Pants, and then sketched out a few layout ideas. The chevron circle is a shape I’ve had in my Silhouette library for a long time, and I was really itching to work that into today’s card as well.

What inspiration can others take from this project?

Maybe it will give others an idea for a teen boy card.

. . . . .

Describe/Share your stamping space.

AKScraftroom1

Do you have to clean your desk before starting a new project?

Yes and no. If my space is too clean, I tend to stay away so I don’t mess it up again. If it’s too messy, I tend to stay away because I can’t stand it. Somewhere in between pristine and a total wreck is my sweet spot — where there are just enough scraps and embellishments around me to inspire creativity. I’m a slow crafter, so usually, by the time I manage to complete a project, I’m so over it that I just leave the resulting mess for later. It’s unfortunate, since cleaning up yesterday’s mess isn’t a very fun way to start today’s card.

What is your must-have tool?  Why do you like it so much?

I’d have to say my dies (and die-cutting machines). I love being able to create an endless supply of inexpensive, custom shapes and embellishments.

Do you always make A2 sized cards?  If you deviate from the standard size, what favorite size to make?

Almost always, yes. On a rare occasion, I’ll go for square or shaped.

What is your favorite RC project so far? Why?

RCarrowsnelements2_aks

This card, featuring Arrows ‘N Elements, is probably my favorite. As I was making it, I was doubtful that the graphic arrow image and bold sentiment from Arrows ‘N’ Elements would be a good match for the soft, floral loveliness of Crate Paper’s On Trend collection. I kept setting aside the Crate collection, but something about it kept beckoning. I’m so glad I heeded the inner muse, because I love the juxtaposition of the graphic and the shabby! A happy surprise!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

By admin
on August 28, 2013

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

It’s time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on PEACOCKS, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

The peacock trend is HOT throughout the wedding, accessory and home decor industry. I was at Barnes & Noble recently admiring this Nook tablet cover…

Peacock

The trend has trickled into paper crafting lately, with pattern paper in the peacock palette, as well as peacock feather pattern paper…and, of course, PEACOCK PRETTIES.  Needless to say, I love the trend.  The feathers, the shapes and the colors all speak to me.

With that Nook cover in mind, I created this card using PEACOCK PRETTIES. I went in a *slightly* different direction when it came to choosing the palette.  Me and purple don’t always get along…in paper crafting, at least!  I embossed the feather in gold and then added some gold sequins to give the card a bit of bling…

TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY

By admin
on August 27, 2013

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

I’m definitely happy that it’s not Monday anymore!  We made it through the first day of school and tae kwon do…along with a dead car battery (realized as I was hurrying to get to school for pick up).  While hubby was fixing the car battery, I dropped a full and open Diet Dr. Pepper on the last step of our staircase, sending soda flying everywhere in the foyer.  Needless to say, everyone (especially me) was ready for bed quite early last night.  I sure am hoping for a little creative escape today…I certainly need it!  Is stamping therapeutic for you, too?  It seems that all my stresses are able to melt away momentarily while I am creating.

. . . . .

It’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAYHAPPY HARBOR was still sitting on my desk from the card I made for last week’s Wednesday in the Works.  I’m a huge fan of the nautical theme/trend and I love inking up this set!

YoureSwell

In addition to the HAPPY HARBOR set, I also brought in the stripe rectangle and coordinating pennant from ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS (now back in stock!).  The “you’re swell” sentiment fits perfectly in the rectangle.

The rest of the card is all about mixing and matching this and that and bringing together colors that I thought looked good together.  If someone told me that aqua, yellow, red, light and dark gray and kraft would be a good color palette to work with for a nautical themed card, I may had said that they were nuts.  I really didn’t plan on these colors, but someway, somehow they ended up in an array on my desk and I went with it.  A happy accident, I suppose, because I really do like how these colors look together.  The picture is showing the dark gray more as a navy, which gives me more ideas and options for using this palette in the future.

‘FETTI FINDS & WEEKLY LINK LIST

By admin
on August 26, 2013

Hello and Happy Monday!

It’s the first day of school here and I can’t believe that I have a second grader in the house.  Seriously, didn’t I just bring her home from the hospital yesterday?  Needless to say, it’s all a little bittersweet!  Although, I am happy that I will be finding a little more time to craft, create and, of course, design more stamps!  Right now, I am gearing up for our September release, which is happening in just less than two weeks.  Stay tuned for more info, sneak peeks AND an introduction to a new Confetti Crew member!

. . . . .

While Monday can be the most dreaded day of the week, we love it here at Reverse Confetti!  We get to recognize our customers and their awesome Reverse Confetti creations!

Drumroll, please!

  • A new link list at the bottom of the ‘Fetti Find post.  It will remain open through Saturday of that week.

<– FIND IT FAST: You’ll be able to find the current ‘Fetti Find post quickly by clicking on the button on the sidebar.

The last day of the month:

  • The ‘FETTI FAVE will be announced here on the Reverse Confetti blog.  This will be one of the ‘Fetti Finds from that month and they will be chosen based on their project and creative use of REVERSE CONFETTI stamps.  The ‘FETTI FAVE will receive the ENTIRE NEXT STAMP RELEASE and be invited to play along with the Confetti Crew for sneak peek days and the new release hop.

Just a couple of rules…

  • Anything goes, as long as Reverse Confetti stamps are the only stamps used OR are the main focal point of the project.
  • No limit to the number of projects linked, but they must be posted to your blog or gallery that same week (no linking older projects).

Hello and TGIF!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!  I’ve seen a lot of kiddos’ first day of school pics on Facebook and we are gearing up for ours next week.  Supplies-check, first day of school outfit-check, to bed early-check.  I have to admit that I have be looking forward to school being back in session, but now that it is upon us I want a few more weeks of fun, sun and a little bit of doing nuthin’.  I’m sure that warm and fuzzy feeling will wear off the next time I hear, “Moooooooommmmmm, can I/will you? or he/she’s doing this, that or the other…”  Anyone else know this feeling?  Certainly, I am not alone here.

. . . . .

A couple of notes before I get started on WEEK IN REVERSE:

1. ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS is BACK IN STOCK!!

2. Don’t forget to upload your Reverse Confetti creations to the weekly link list for a chance to win the ENTIRE NEXT RELEASE.  Find it Fast link on the sidebar.

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

I really love that this is a totally STAMPED card.  Just plain stamping…….no fancy dies or pattern paper (which I LOVE don’t get me wrong)!

What was your process on making this project? Did you have a starting point (color, inspiration, sketch)?

My starting point for this was to search my favorite challenge blogs for a theme or color combination.  I found a great color challenge using aqua, green, and orange.  I thought this color combination would be perfect with the Inner Rock Star set from Reverse Confetti……kinda funky and fun!

What inspiration can others take from this project?

I really like the border on the left using a banner stamp that was stamped multiple times, cut out, and adhered to the main panel.  Remember, I did not use fancy dies for this card!  The other thing is….don’t be afraid to do a little fussy cutting!  My guitars and the borders were cut by hand but did not take a ton of time to do but I love the result!

 . . . . .

Describe/Share your stamping space.

AmyKspace

Typic

My stamping space is a very cluttered MESS.  Yes, I admit it.  It’s been a work (or mess) in progress for some time.  I’m quite embarrassed to show you anything other than my desk at this time and this is even a cleaned up desk for this pic!  I am lucky to say that I have an extra room in our basement that could be a bedroom but I claimed it for my space when we moved in!  At one time, I did share it with my husband but he has since moved to the kitchen table.  hehe

Do you have to clean your desk before starting a new project?

Yes and no.  My desk is never totally cleaned off…..that being said, after every project, I do put those supplies away and leave my stamping space clean for the next project.  Now, if I could just clean the rest of my desk………..

What is your must-have tool?  Why do you like it so much?

I’m not quite sure I can name just one so I’ll just say that my favorites are my Fiskars paper trimmer, Scor-Pal, and my Big Shot/dies.  I love my dies a LOT……my friends will agree.  I have one of the first Big Shots and because I use it on nearly every card, I recently bought a “back up” just in case it breaks.

Do you always make A2 sized cards?  If you deviate from the standard size, what favorite size to make?

I generally make A2 sized cards but occasionally find myself using my dies to shape a card.

What is your favorite RC project so far? Why?

My favorite RC project is one of the very first I created for RC’s first release!  My “you’re swell” card uses a fabulous color combination and the layout is one of my favorites with a layered window.  A side note about this card……..I had it all done and thought, it’s missing something.  Then I realized that the lighthouse needed something.  I searched through my RC sets and found the little stamp with 3 dots (it’s actually bubbles for the fish).  Stamping my “rays” for the lighthouse was a last minute detail but one that really made me LOVE this card!

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

It’s time for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!

What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS? It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on THE NAUTICAL CRAZE, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

It’s not a surprise that the nautical trend is still going very strong!  Anchors, whales and lighthouses, oh my!

Again, I went sans pattern paper.  I better not get too used to that since I have a slew of new 6×6 pads that are begging to be used!  I used the rope stamped twice across the aqua panel to create my own “pattern paper”.  In addition to the rope, this set also has the strip of small anchors to use as a border and/or stamp repeatedly to create pattern paper.  I had originally placed a navy scallop panel where the anchors are and then thought that it would be fun to create a colored “panel” by using the repeating anchors.  LOVE this look…sweet and simple!
