Greetings and Happy Friday!

Just a couple of notes before I get started on this week’s WEEK IN REVERSE post…

1. Orders made July 20-22 will be processed on Tuesday, July 23.

2. Just a reminder to upload your Reverse Confetti creations to the ‘Fetti Find link list HERE (closes tomorrow).

3. If you didn’t get a chance to see our 2 new segments on the blog this week, be sure to keep scrolling after this post.

. . . . .

Now, it’s time for WEEK IN REVERSE where we get to take a peek back at what the Confetti Crew has done this past week with Reverse Confetti stamps.  The Crew has been very busy this week with their Reverse Confetti stamps.  Grab that cuppa, sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s review…

Amy Sheffer mixed and matched three of the new release sets: Inner Rock Star, Whole Lotta Dots and Arrows ‘n Elements in this card that I must say ROCKS…

Heather made my heart set sail with this nautical themed beauty using the Happy Birthday sentiment from the new set, Celebrate Cake

Susan’s Celebrate Cake tag + card is so cheerful and fun…

Savannah is so clever how she masked the sweet sentiment from Happy Harbor and paired with the anchor from the same set…

Val’s grunge effect card using Whole Lotta Dots and Arrows ‘n Elements is just as it says…AWESOME!…

Amber’s sunshine-y card using I Like You brings a smile to my face…

Dawn has been a busy lil’ stampin’ bee this week, whipping up four Reverse Confetti creations using Celebrate Cake, Arrows ‘n Elements and Whole Lotta Dots

Amy Kolling’s CAS nautical themed card using Happy Harbor is absolutely stunning…

Hello there, and welcome to the 2nd of the two new segments we are introducing on the blog this week.

In this weekly segment, one of the Confetti Crew designers will have the camera on both themselves, as a designer, and on their Reverse Confetti creations.  You’ll get a dose of Reverse Confetti inspiration, as well as get to know each designer a little better through some interview questions that we have prepared.  A couple of things to note:

1) This segment will not “air” if there is a different post scheduled for that day, such on Sketch for You to Try on the 1st of each month or on a hop day.

2) Each designer will answer the same set of questions until we have featured every Confetti Crew Design Team Member.

. . . . .

This week the Confetti Camera is zooming in on yours truly!

Let’s put the camera on this cute ‘n caffeinated card…

Post Production Interview

What do you like best about this project?

I love that I was able to use FOUR sets easily to create a fun coffee themed card.

(I Like You, Arrows ‘n Elements, Celebrate Cake and Whole Lotta Dots)

What was your process in making this project? Did you have a starting point (color, inspiration, sketch, etc.)?

I knew that I wanted to make a coffee themed card and I had this general color scheme in mind.  I’m loving working with gray right now!

What inspiration can others take from this project?

I think the inspiration that others can take from this project is both the color palette, as well as the little details (rhinestones matted with sequins, tone on tone stamping and little pops of color, specifically the aqua on this card).

. . .

What does your studio/creative space look like?

My studio is also my office.  I recently (as in last weekend) reorganized my space to be a more efficient creative studio, as well as an office for Reverse Confetti.  Here’s a peek into my world…

This room is technically our home’s formal dining room.  I’m taking some of the pictures from our formal living room which our kids playroom.  Needless to say two things:

1) We are not very formal people.

2) Getting work done with the kids *right there* proves to be complicated at times.

Studio Side…

The desks and the hutch are from our pre-kid days and once were in my hubby’s office.  I picked up this piece with drawers and a cabinet from IKEA a couple of years ago.  It was in their last chance/floor model section and I got it for a steal.  It barely fit into my vehicle.  In fact, the IKEA employees that loaded it for me tore up my tint.  Fortunately, IKEA was super easy to work with and paid for it (directly) to be fixed.  Not that IKEA needs bonus points in my book, but I gotta say that got some serious brownie points with me on that whole ordeal.

I purchased the purple buckets (which may just get a nice coat of aqua spray paint at some point) from Target a few years ago.  They seem to come out with a variety of different colors each year.  I think this year is simply black and white.  The handles on them flip out so that they can stack nicely one on top of the other…

This hutch was part of the original office set that I mentioned above and fits all my paper, ribbon and embellishments (in the drawers).  The rolls of ribbon are stored in clear plastic silverware separators from Target…

Moving on down the wall, is my desk where I create.  The Rubbermaid bin stores all of my punches, as well as a few other odds ‘n ends.  The black rolling cart holds dies which are separated by company into plastic pencil boxes.  You can also see my scrap paper bin, which obviously needs a little attention.   The long drawer in the desk houses my acrylic blocks, adhesives and tools that I use often…

Over to the left is the Reverse Confetti side of things (you can see the rug I put in the room in this pic, too).  Soon enough those peg boards will be full.  Under the desk you can see the wire drawers that are filled with my alterables, bags, tins and the like.  I suppose they should technically be on the other side of the room, but they fit so nicely right there.  Anyone else recognize the bag that is draped over the chair?  It’s the make ‘n take from the Silhouette booth at CHA a couple years ago…

Now, to say this corner needs a little love would be a drastic understatement. The fact is, that I just don’t sew all that much.  It’s quite rare…lately, at least.  Maybe one day I will find an old sewing table to put here.  For now, it’s my cheapy bookcase and I’m okay with that.   The clock (which has seen better days and used to have a few more elements attached) has come down now to make room for my latest Home Goods find (an early birthday present for me-pic below)…

Love this clock, which will actually end up on a shelf (to be hung) above the markers on my desk…

(Post Production Questions continued)

Do you have to clean your desk before starting a new project?

Yes.  I’m a little OCD like that.  I will put everything back before I get started.  Not only does it give me a clean slate both literally and figuratively, but also make a HUGE mess each time I create so I have to make room to create again.  If I’m already clearing off a space, I might as well clear the whole thing.

What is your must-have tool?  Why do you like it so much?

Hands down, my Big Shot!  I used it all the time for die-cutting and embossing.

Do you always make A2 sized cards?  If you deviate from the standard size, what favorite size to make?

For the most part, yes, I mainly make A2 sized cards.  It’s easy to cut a piece of 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock in half and make 2 cards from it without any extra/waste left over. As much as I am not a fan of mass production, I also like making 3×3 mini cards in sets.  They’re so cute and sweet and make a fun little gift.

What is your favorite RC project so far? Why?

I imagine that this question is going to be easier for the rest of the Confetti Crew to answer, as I feel as though I have a very personal connection to each of these stamps and the projects I make with them.  Since we’ve only had 2 releases, I am going to go ahead a choose a card from each of the releases…

This was the *very first card* I made using Reverse Confetti stamps (Peacock Pretties). Specifically, I like the colors and its simple, yet elegant, design.

This party combo features three of the latest released sets (Celebrate Cake, Whole Lotta Dots and Arrows ‘n Elements).  I like it because it was fun to make (and that’s important to me!) and it will be a fun set to give to someone.

Greetings Friends, Fans and Family!

Today kicks off the one of two new segments here on the Reverse Confetti blog…Wednesday in the Works.  It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project.  Today we’re focusing on handmade embellishments, but a variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between.

. . . . .

In the works today…handmade embellishments.

I used to buy lots of embellishments…in every color available.  Soon, I had a drawer full of embellishments and a few embellished projects.  Truth be told, what looked pretty in a package didn’t always look good on a project and I rarely found myself wanting to design around an embellishment.  I found myself using punches, die cuts and what I had on hand to make my own embellishments…  ones that perfectly matched my project, not only in color, but in size, shape and style.

One of my favorite embellishments to add to birthday cards is a candle.  Not the waxy ones from the package, but rather a handmade one from paper.  They are easy to make and easy to coordinate with any theme or style and can be made to give to either gender.  Small or tall, they will fit on any of your cards, tags or bags.

For this card, I used a trio of candles created from pattern paper scraps as the backdrop to the sentiment…

The kraft panels were stamped with each of the patterns from the new set, WHOLE LOTTA DOTS.  The sentiments are from the (also new!) set CELEBRATE CAKE. Polka dots and cake…who could ask for more?

Detail shot…

I’ve created a step by step photo tutorial on how to make these super cute handmade embellishments that add that perfect touch to any birthday card…

You will need:

Pattern Paper – shown cut into 2.5″ x 2 ” panels

(Note: small patterns or solid colors work best)

Double side adhesive

Baker’s Twine (or other cording to make the “wick”)

Optional: Pencil and Glue

Step One:

Apply double sided adhesive to edge of reverse side of one panel.

Step Two:

Beginning with the edge without adhesive, roll paper.  I choose to wrap it around a pencil to avoid creases, but do not adhere the edge when it is on the pencil.

Step Three:

If you have chosen to use a pencil, remove paper from around the pencil.

Step Four:

Tightly roll the panel and adhere edge with double stick adhesive.

Step Five:

When candle has been rolled and the edges have been adhered, add “wick.”  My “wick” is a 1.5″ length of baker’s twine.  I applied a tiny dab of glue to the end that I stuck into the candle.  This is optional, but ensures that your “wick” won’t come out.

Repeat each step to complete the desired amount of candles on your project.

Hello and Happy Tuesday, ‘Fetti Fans!

Is everyone enjoying their summer vacation?  It actually feels a little like fall here in North Texas…73 and rainy.  Perfect for me to duck into my newly reorganized studio/office and create.  Over the past few (rainy) days, I’ve whipped up a few cards using the new releases.  And, by “whipped up,” I mean that I spent a few hours tinkering and toying with stamps, ink and the like.  I’m not a fast creator.  Are you?  Rarely do I even use glue before I am actually done creating the project and I’m always adding and rearranging panels and embellishments until I get them just right.  I suppose it’s all part of the process, but I have to admit that I am a bit envious of stampers/crafters that really can just think of an idea and create it in no time at all.

I’ll be sharing more about my creative space and process in one of the new segments on the blog this week.  Stay tuned!

. . . . .

As for today, it’s Tuesday and that means it’s

Have you noticed the gold trend that is everywhere these days?  I was just admiring some fun and funky gold office accessories in a local store the other day and I just love all the gold accents that are popping up in the world of fashion, too!  Of course, the gold trend has trickled into paper crafting…papers, mists, sequins, cording, embellishments and more!  I stuck to what was already on my desk…gold tinsel embossing powder and INNER ROCK STAR. I’ve had the idea to create a card with several of the records in a line for quite sometime now, but it wasn’t until I embossed a record in gold for this card that I know that I wanted them all to be gold…

Detail shot…

I love all the white space on this card!  Even though there are a lot of little pieces, I was still able to maintain the white space and keep it clean and simple (CAS).  I started this card by creating this strip of gold records.  To play off the star in the center of the records, I added the punched stars.  To bring it all together, I added the gold sequins which tie into the shape and color of the records.

Hello there, ‘Fetti Fans!  I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.  I spent a good chunk of the weekend re-organizing my office/studio.  I will be sharing the reorganization later this week as part of a new segment here on the Reverse Confetti blog.  I look forward to sharing my space with you!  As for today, it’s all about YOU, the Reverse Confetti customer!  The linked projects were ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING and it was hard to pick just a couple of cards to be the ‘FETTI FINDS.

Thank you to everyone that linked up last week!  The new link list is at the end of this post. I’m already looking forward to seeing what you make!

Howdy, Howdy!

It’s TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY…on Wednesday!  (Since we had our NEW RELEASE HOP on Monday, we shifted our normal Monday and Tuesday posts by just a day).

On the new release hop, I showed you a tag that I had attached to an envie.  Well, I had cut out several of those tags with the intention of being able to grab them and make more as I needed.  When I sat down to make this TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY, I decided to grab one, along with the new ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS and WHOLE LOTTA DOTS sets to create this card…

I started by stamping the large dots from the WHOLE LOTTA DOTS set in white and then stamping the word “AWESOME” from the ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS set vertically in black ink.  The pink and orange enamel dots were added to match the polka dot chevrons (from the ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS set).  The black and white baker’s twin was tied around the pink ribbon to bring together the black on the tag.

Detail shot…

Tags aren’t only for popping on a gift. I love being able to add tags to card, like I have shown here or even to an envie like I shared the other day. The color scheme and sentiment can easily be changed out on this design to create a card (or a tag) for anyone for any occasion!

. . . . .

Just a reminder, the JULY SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY is open just a few more days.  Click the link on the sidebar to upload your SFYTT creations.

Also, the new ‘Fetti Finds link list open.  Upload your Reverse Confetti creations for a chance to win FREE STAMPS!

<—-There is also an easy to find sidebar button for this, too!

Hello ‘Fetti Fans!

Welcome to the NEW RELEASE BLOG HOP!  Today, the Confetti Crew, the ‘Fetti Faves and a couple special friends are sharing some AWESOME projects using the FOUR NEW SETS.  Sit back, relax and enjoy this hop.  And, in case you get lost along the way, there is a full list of hoppers at the bottom of this post.

. . . . .

My hop projects use a little something from each of these sets.  First is a card that uses INNER ROCK STAR, ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS and WHOLE LOTTA DOTS

When I first started playing with this set, I knew that I wanted to do a gold embossed record.  SOLID GOLD, BABY!…

Breaking out the embossing powder is kind of a big deal for me.  I always end up getting it everywhere and driving me crazy.  However, I was feeling a little adventurous and not only embossed the gold record, but I also embossed the WHOLE LOTTA DOTS along the left side of the card.  I love black embossing on a black panel.  Also, notice that you can easily line up this pattern to make it as long as you want/need…

My next project combines CELEBRATE CAKE along with ARROWS ‘N ELEMENTS.  I love making tags and I thought that it would be super cute to add it to an envelope to dress it up a little.  The recipient’s name can be put on the dotted line is which is from our I LIKE YOU set.  My sweet daughter, Ellie, turns 7 today and I will be writing her name on the line and filling the envie with some Despicable Me 2 movie tickets…

The tag was cut out with my Silhouette.  The triangles at the bottom are the triangles from the CELEBRATE CAKE set, which can also be used as an ice cream cone or party hat.  I am all about versatility, especially when it works with trends, too!

Detail shots (you can see I even broke out the embossing powder for this project, too!!)…
