Welcome to this week’s edition of WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS!
What is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS?
It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project. A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between. Today, Confetti Crew member Sarah Gough has a great video to share with you about how to make a darling gift wrap card.
. . . . .
For Wednesday in the Works today, I turned to that little workhorse of a die set, the Office Edges Confetti Cuts! I’ve used a tab from the Office Edges to create a little pocket, turning your card into the perfect giftwrap for a little piece of jewelry, giftcard or cash. My card features a magnetic closure, but you can also use ribbon and I’ll show you both options.
Well, we survived Monday so it’s time for TIME FOR A CARD TUESDAY!
I had a lot of fun creating the card that I am sharing today. Confetti Crew member and friend, Stacey Schafer, introduced me to the Ranger watercolor paper. I love using this stuff in conjunction with Reverse Confetti goodies to create fun cards (and such)!
For this card I created a pink ombre watercolor background and then cut it out with the PRETTY PANELS: BIG CHEVRON from our latest release. I backed it with the rounded rectangle from CLASS ACT Confetti Cuts (made to go together).
On top of the ombre BIG CHEVRON panel, I layered a BEAUTIFUL BANNERS Confetti Cuts die cut (cut from gray stripe paper), an Arrow Confetti Cuts die cut and a sparkly gold heart cut from the LOVE NOTE Confetti Cuts die set.
The patterned paper panels underneath are cut from the DOCUMENTED Confetti Cuts die set from our January release (LOVE this die set!) and stamped with the CRUSHIN’ namesake sentiment. As a finishing touch, I added a bit of bling with some gold sequins randomly placed. It’s amazing how long it takes to “randomly” place these lil’ things!
This wasn’t the only fun that I had playing with watercolors! If you follow Reverse Confetti on Instagram, last week you caught a little peek of the base of the card that I’ll be showing tomorrow. (Yea, the one that looked like I was bleeding). It turned out to be a super cute card (in my humble opinion)! See you tomorrow with the finished product!

The Confetti Crew has come up with some great inspiration using this sketch!
Many take this day to reflect on the year past. It’s been a good one, indeed. However, there isn’t too much time to reflect as I have a lot to prep for in the upcoming weeks. We are so excited for our next release in which we will be release a new product…one that no one else has. How’s that for a little teaser?
. . . . .
Today, we have a special year end project for WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS.
First, what is WEDNESDAY IN THE WORKS?
It’s not really about one thing in particular, but rather “the works” of a stamped card or project. A variety of topics will be covered in this segment… from color combos to shaped cards to inspiration pieces to mixing and matching stamps and/or papers…and everything in between. Today Confetti Crew member, Amy Sheffer, has a fun little way to make confetti and use it on a card.
How about a little confetti to ring in the New Year? Did you know, the little star cut-outs from the Stars Pretty Panels Confetti Cuts die make perfect confetti? Give it a try!
For today’s festive card, I filled a tiny glassine bag with silver and gold stars. The bag is embellished with some loops of silver thread and a silver star that I cut with the Oh My Stars Confetti Cuts die. The sentiment is a combination of the word “celebrate” from Beautiful Banners and numbers from Lighthearted Letters to make the year 2015.
With metallics being super trendy right now, the traditional silver, gold, and black New Year color combo is extra fun to design with. The narrow black and gold striped washi tape from K & Co. was perfect to help frame the card’s focal point.
I stamped an exploding confetti background using an image from Winning and heat embossed it in gold for extra shine. Along the bottom, I added a subtle white-on-white Circle Garland Confetti Cuts die-cut for a little extra interest.
Happy New Year to you and yours! May all your troubles during the coming year be as short as your New Year’s resolutions! (wink!)
